Most Absurd Logic: Someone talk to Porsche about this
Hi,
Please see this pic. There is absolutely no reason to go with this functionality. Where did German logic go? now, I have to press P to put the car in Park. I do not do this with my other cars; just move the stick in position. Why an extra useless step. The location of electric handbrake option is in the worst possible location; makes accidental tapping very high. Worse is sometimes, coffee gets spilled - guess where it will land? - on the button. Who is the "super genius" for this design logic?
Aren't the best Porsche customers have some pull with Porsche Management?
We all can do something about this....

Can't you just come to a stop and press P without touching the selector? I don't think the selector changes position when you use it.
And doesn't the park brake only work when you're not moving anyway?

Push P to park really??? Just noticed it when you mentioned it. What is it a Honda?
Not being able to also shift is also a huge miss.
You make some VERY valid points.

Meah, I don't have an issue with any of that. I see your point(s) but those things don't bother me. I WOULD like to be able to manually shift the PDK with the lever. I am disappointed that feature/option is gone.

I know how I drive. There are some huge logic issues with the current design layout (it is very forced design - you know you can tell). I can not see myself dropping over $100K on a car like this. I feel it is a forced buy on my end, I will test drive it but end of the day - I am buying few more older models. I really want a conversation with the design team on this? and ask them politely please explain your logic?
By the way, what are the chances of electrics/or button spring failing on the Park button. All the extra space next to the gear is horrible. The whole center console is not in balance.
You can tell, how much this is bothering me. Oh well, at least there are tons of older models for sale in the used market

my god the whining. If you don't like the design, don't buy it. Porsche doesn't care one way or another since plenty of people (yes in china) will line up to buy it.
Shifting an automatic from the shift **** is stupid anyway and push to park is a common thing. The chances of the park button failing are similar to those of any other button failing...not very high.

Agreed. The ability to shift manually with the lever is the only functionality that has been completely removed, not just changed. That's my biggest problem with the nubbin. Everything else I can live with.

Why do I keep seeing this photo yet nothing written or hinted that the cup holder is removable or perhaps retractable? Can someone at the LA Show press on the damn thing to see if it retracts downward?

It's only removable, and the shame is that if you'd purchase the "smoker package", unlike the 991 where you had that emply spot closeable (for the coins i.e.), you have an ugly ashtray...
WTF had smoke the designer that night?!?!

There are no extra steps to park. In fact, pushing that button is arguably easier than moving the larger shift lever of the 991, which you HAD to do in all situations. I would guess that if you just turn the car off, it defaults to park, and unlike the 991, you SAVE a step.
