Buy now or hold?

My man!
And no, don't wait if you want it now... the 991.2 is a splndid vehicle that even makes the .1 manage feel a bit dated... The 992 will be nice, but we all know the 992.2 will be the one to get... as is the usual cycle.

My bad, I just woke up but you know what I mean (whatever they call the 911 model after the 992). My point is there is a 992 Forum but like here it just contains speculation since nothing official announcement has been made in regards to release dates for which models, etc.

As an update, I bought a 991.2 a few weeks ago. I've been very excited about the 992, but for some reason didn't want to give up the analog gauges. Crazy, huh? Check it out here if you're interested. Its a 2017 base model with 1300 miles.
In the meantime, I'm still on the 992 allocation list, but not expecting to use it when my name is called.
Peace.

This thread is killing me. About to lock on a 991.2 Turbo. Been debating the whole 991.2/992 issue for weeks. Problem for me is what I expect will be the really long wait for the 992 Turbo. I would think a couple of years. Also a bit concerned about the move towards more of the Panamera back-end and interior. I’m no luddite but the new 992 styling, at least what I can gather from the “spy shots”, turns me off. Plus I like the current interior. With that said, I know I’ll give up some improvements to have the car sooner rather than later. Guess I can always flip the 991.2 if I have to have the 992. But I know that be a costly maneuver. The only comment I’ve seen on this thread that makes me feel a bit better is the one about how much easier it is to wait if you already have one. I think I’ll stick with that approach.

I agree with you and I have a 991.2 on order, and I suspect that the Targa will be a long ways off. The 991.2 is a great car, period. Will there be something better in the future? Maybe (define "better"). If you like the 991.2 don't wait since you can drive it and enjoy it for a long time. And just think about how many earlier 911 variations are not as good as the 991.2!

Not sure how old you are but take it from me that you never know what tomorrow will bring.
Life is too short to put things off so if you like the 991.2 then buy it now and enjoy it.
You can worry about the 992 when it arrives.....in the meantime you'll have a sh*t faced grin on your face.

So so so glad I bought my 2017 C2 after seeing the 992. It might grow on me but I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the digital dash and the nubbin shifter.

My 991.2 just got written off in an accident. MIGHT be able to order a new one and there are zero lightly optioned/low km cars in all of Canada (1 MT ). 992 won't be here for about 1 year. Havent seen 992 but don't like the interior compared to mine.....think I want to buy now.

Just leaving ATL as I type. Drove the 911 GTS at Porsche Experience yesterday. All I could think while I was driving was: what the heck am I waiting for? Then we had a ride to dinner in a new PanAm and the digital dash just blew me away. Everyone’s not a fan, but I am. I’ve been driving an Audi TT for a year+ and the dash is amazing. The experience was amazing. We loved our Caymans and will wait just a bit longer for the 992.
on the lighter side, we stopped up at Perimeter Porsche ( where we got our first Cayman) and they said there were only a couple of people in line for the 992 to date. They suggested it would be pretty easy to be an early adopter. Just notes...

I have no idea... since I got my car, my mind can no longer distinguish between them. My 2017 C2 is the “poor man’s 911” but man I love it. Drive it everyday to work and it’s the best part of my day... twice. It’s like having a girlfriend that your wife loves too.
