I'm a big fan of the M3 CS but even more impressed with the M4 CSL...I was hoping they would do a M3 CSL ...I like my M cars RWD . Since the 90's I've always had an M car or at least a BMW next to my Porsche , I find they compliment each other in utility . Had an e36 M3, e46 M3 , E28 M5, E34 M5, E90 M3, F82 M4 and as of last November my G80 M3 Competition RWD.
My first HPDE day with the M3 is this May so looking forward to seeing how I fair with it compared to my 911.1 GT3. Getting a set of Cup2's for the M3 as it needs it but so far it's overall competence is astounding ! 3rd gear is stupendous , so I can only imagine what the M3 CS is capable of.
Years ago , BMW did the E90 M3 CRT which was a lightweight study that went into limited production ....would love to see that in G80 form with the CSL badge. Perhaps with wider F+ R tires .
It seems that there are some engineers out there calling the M3's S58 engine the modern 2Jz due to it's robustness and amazing similarity in architecture , labels the previous gen S55 did not enjoy.
To the OP, if you are thinking of the CS...now is the time to grab one .
Here's my M3 Comp in Brooklyn Grey, Kyalami interior w/ M carbon buckets, which IMHO are superior to the LWBS that were in my Cayman GT4 .
An M3 CSL? What is the point of a 4-door with no rear seats?
A CRT version of the G80 could indeed be interesting though. Essentially a RWD CS…

I was thinking 4 super lightweight manual carbon buckets for the M3 CSL , and make it the ultimate M3 by going with carbon hood, roof, trunk ,carbon wheels , and all 4 doors , get the Curb Weight down to 3500lbs . It would be pricey but still cheaper than a 992 GT3 w/ ADM .
I have the Taycan Turbo GT with the WP holding on line 1 for you.
It’s still a dichotomy and not very efficient, but since the 4-door Taycan is the only electric car platform Porsche has for now, I can understand why they did it.

It's really not that odd.
For example, the GR Corolla Morizo has no back seats, even though it's a four door hot hatch.

The Giulia GTA is another example. But these still are dichotomies. Like I said, I can understand why a manufacturer would do it when they do not have a similar 2-door chassis available to them. In the case of the M3, BMW already has a 2-door built on the same chassis with the M4. So it makes no sense to do a 2-seat 4-door M3.
there is one in the show room at a local dealer, and few are popping up as their production for some odd reason has been delayed
Interesting. My dealer told me you can’t order them anymore because they’re not being produced anymore. Now I’m going to have to ask him again and I’ll also ask a different dealer close to me. Thanks for the info.

I looked into one
the allocations has been out and assigned for several months , so I don't think you can get an allocation now
but what happened to the CS is what happened to car market in general, so people were jumping on them with the mindset of "grab it and when it comes you can flip it or leave it "
and now since the markets are almost back to normal, people are rethinking their strategy and a number of these cars people are backing out
2 of the 4 local dealers has been bugging me to take their cars, and one offered a discount , but was not enough for me as their car was 134 k sticker .That car was frozen white and since then it has sold
the other one , I mentioned above is green with a lot of carbon fiber stuff and MSRP is 134 k
so basically , you can grab one from people backing out

wow man BMW dealerships in the Tampa area are crushing it. Their sales are great. I doubt they’d have a very hard time getting rid of any M3 let alone that CS.

The sales of the current line of M cars are great in California too.
