Default Is there a way to set the tire pressure monitor level lower?

I would like to drop my pressure down for a better ride and a little more traction but don't want the lights to come on on the dash. In my M8 Comp you could set it to race tires or summer tires and set the threshold for setting off the lights to a lower number. Over 40 pounds seems a tad excessive and makes for a stiffer ride.

on my 23 there is a comfort setting that gets the tires down in the low to mid 30 psi range.

There are two toggle settings that will set the reference tire pressures on summer tires: Full Load and Comfort Pressures, and one toggle for winter tires: Full Load. For a total of 6 different combination of reference pressures:
  • 35/42 Summer base pressure
  • 38/48 Summer full load
  • 30/35 Summer comfort
  • 33/39 Summer full load + comfort
  • 32/38 Winter base
  • 36/44 Winter full load

For the lowest possible reference deselect Full Load and select Comfort Pressure. This will set the reference pressures to 30psi front and 35psi rear.

You’ll find those settings in the PCM under:
>Car >Control >Vehicle >TPMS

Oddly, to be able to see and reset the reference pressures, you need to change the tire size (between summer and winter), so if you want to reset the summer tire reference pressures when the summer tires are already selected, you need to first select winter tires and then reselect summer tires, you can the tick the right option combination (Full Load / Comfort Pressures). You then need to select the “Pressure deviation Display tire pressure fill information” line to see the selected reference pressure.
