Thinking about adding a C8 corvette convertible to my garage. Have a 2023 tts but am I nuts?
Anyone own both at same time? Do they complement each other? The corvette looks exotic and it is a relative bargain. Would love a Ferrari or McLaren but the $$$ are way too much.
i had a c7 convertible for years - granted the c8 is a new breed - i had plenty of "in the shop time" to know i have no reason to go back - after my c7 experience and getting a tts, there is simply no comparison....not even worth talking about - 2 different worlds, no matter what Madison Avenue has to say.... - check out the corvette forums and see how the c8 is doing, they are a great source of the current state of affairs -- if you do buy one, make sure dealer is within walking distance to your home

here is a little history of my c7 ownership: (the things i remember)
2015 Z06 convertible - purchased new April 2015 - 71k miles
3 Flex plates - GM's version of a paddle shifter transmission has a Flex Plate in the drive train - transmission & drive train pulled out 3 times (first time at 2400 miles) after that.....2 more times 1 Torque Converter 1 Rear Differential (complete) 2 Valve Springs (broken) - 1 @38k the other @ 65k miles 3 Service Rear Axle "issues" 3 StabilTrac Issues - bad solenoid on rear differential 4 wheels (they are soft as butter and bend easily) - repurchased out of pocket
71k+ miles - in the shop: SuperCharger making noise - will be replaced Service Brakes warning light on dash - possibly a sensor wire worn Excessive Oil Consumption - Compression Test scheduled
Oil usage when on/off throttle driving, is...shall I say....a quart every drive of 300+ miles (I'll usually do that on a day drive)
towards the end of its life the ecu started to act up, causing unknown stumbles at every stop...out of warranty meant buying a new unit

Ive had 10 corvettes along with a few 911s now.
I love the Corvette. 2017 Z06 Convertible was my favourite car I've ever had. Sounded like a bomb went off when you give it.
Nothing wrong with a C8. I'm eyeing the New Z06 but impossible to get one.
Don't have both, but have driven a C8. If you like it enough, get it.
Personally, I'd want something manual and be fun to drive even at the speed limit. The C8 was neither of those for me, not that it makes it bad, just that it's not the car for me. The Turbo S already has paddles, capable at some turns, and blindingly fast. So that's how I define if a car "compliments" the other. I'm looking for a different experience and personality. The short time I've driven the C8 wasn't the case.

This is my 15th Corvette, and 9th Porsche on the way, started with both in 1986, bought this for my wife, my C8 Z06 order was just accepted last week. C8 is unlike any other gen Corvette, GET IT, great car for the money

I have a modded 991.1 2015 Turbo S cabriolet and I bought a new C8 Z51 Convertible in March of 2023.
The Porsche is my dream car and my wife loves Corvettes.
I have to tell you, I love the C8. I find myself wanting to drive it more than the Porsche.
It is not nearly as fast as the Porsche, but it is fast enough.
Per my Dragy the Porsche is 6.82@102.89 1/8th and C8 is 7.28@97.61 with a 1.82 60'. I only did one 1/4 in the C8 and it spun and only did a 1.92 60', still ran a 11.48@121.65 after a 7.46@97.77 1/8th.
Just like my Porsche's stock exhaust which I hated and upgraded to 3" x-pipe and 100 cel cats, the C8 even with NPP exhaust was not enough for me, I added a AWE Track exhaust, it sounds amazing now, one of the best sounding cars I have ever owned.
