Default RFID boxes for car keys

Anyone uses these at home to prevent your keys from being replicated to steal your car? Any insights?

Thanks.

I have made my own faraday cages for years. Especially if a car is parked in the drive, not the garage.

Yes.
They work.
I keep a larger bag in my safe with all spare keys and I have two separate smaller bags I leave out for quick access to my Porsche and Audi keys for daily use.
I purchased from a couple different manufacturers.

Larger waterproof bag.

Daily use key bag.

Could someone please explain why you need to use this for your key fob? Do you use this when you go out to restaurants? Can your key be copied once in your pocket?
thank you very much

At home keep al keys in a box...and sure it has saved my my vehicles from being taken. My neighbors didn't have a box or camera. Their Lexus is gone..

If you are out an about, malls and movie theaters, thieves will mark your vehicle when you pull in and park.

They will follow you inside and make attempts so scan your key, which can be averted with the pouch.

Otherwise, i just avoid extended parks in public.

Holy Crap. I have never heard of this. So they scan my key and essentially copy it and then go out and drive off with my car!! Crazy.

One question about home keys? Can keys be scanned from inside your house?
Looks like I will be using a few Faraday cages. Crazy world we live in.

Thanks for the heads up.
I really appreciate it.

Yes.
Apparently someone with a scanner can walk up to the side of your house, scan the available RFID's and then retransmit them near your car to open and start it and drive off.
When I was out of state for nearly all of 2021, the bags gave me some additional peace of mind with car being locked up in the garage.

How about a simple on/off switch for your FOB - and we could do away with all this ridiculousness

Which currently manufactured vehicles have that as an option?
Seriously curious as I don't know the answer.
I think it might be none hence the bags for protection.

Most people by habit keep their keys near the front door...they approach the home...boost a random signal until your car unlocks. They leave the scene.

They then program a key and come back and take your vehicle in the silent of the night. Exactly what happened to my buddies F-pace.

There has been an onslaught of car theft in Toronto lately...some big busts, but everyone is getting wiser to it.

I use a Faraday Cage Bag. Not so much to prevent my Key Code from being taken, mostly to keep the battery in the Key Fob from dying prematurely because it keeps trying to talk to the car. If it's not isolated, the key fob's battery life might be as long as 2-3 months.
~$10.00 on Amazon.

I believe if you press and hold lock and unlock simultaneously and the crest lights solid, the key fob sleeps. It is awakened as soon as you press any button. Was told this by a PCNA Atlanta engineer and it’s in the manual but not well labeled.
