Check engine light with 200 cell cats?

JCR Iconel cats throw them on occ....initially nothing for months, then a few...then none for a month. Usually in Sport mode when driving at low speeds in cold temps.
Became quite rare if I drove in Normal until engine temps were up instead of going straight into Sport mode from my driveway.
Since M-Engineering - nothing.
All in all...more than worth it as the sound and power band gains are fantastic.

As Pad recommends, pick up an inexpensive ODB2 scanner. There are many to chose from.
From there it's very easy to confirm and cancel the CEL codes thrown by your 200 sport cats. Once until through break-in period install your tune and be done with it.
It's a widely known and annoying issue on the 992 turbo cars with any 200 (or less) cell sport cats.

I think what it comes down to is that the newer cars have stricter emission guidelines. If you had a 2020 you would not get a CEL. I have a 2020 C2S w 200 cell cats and never had a CEL in 6k miles. My buddy with a 22 and same setup has CEL.
I have a 992 Turbo S that is incoming in the next 2-3 weeks and am thinking if I'm going to get a CEL anyway, might as well go 100 cell cats or catless with OBD device like Pad Bender mentioned.

The solution to resolve the CEL issue is threefold:
1) use large size cats
2) coat the cats with a higher amount of precious metals
3) use heat shields to insulate the cats
Larger cats have a larger surface area so this is obvious, the precious metals are expensive but there really is no subsitute.
You also need heat shields on the cats, otherwise they won’t reach the proper operating temperature.

Where do we find the correct heatshielding?

“If you bought your 200 cell cats from anyone else - they are not using the high quality HJS cats.....”
That’s funny. And all this time I thought Kline was using HJS cats.

Fabspeed offers actual HJS Cats. Just a reminder to everyone that Fabspeed is the sole importer of HJS Catalytic converters for North and South America.
If you bought your 200 cell cats from anyone else - they are not using the high quality HJS cats.....
If you are having problems with your car throwing codes - you are not using the high precious metal catalysts. HJS has a no CEL light guarantee!
Give me a call if you want to try our high quality parts out - 215 646 4945.
My name is Tim Carroll!
AND
If they are made here they are not HJS.
They are 200 cell... Something...!
I would like to state for the record that EVERY SINGLE CAT MANUFACTURER uses the same HJS 200 cell except Akrapovic, who makes their own cats.
I guess thats why he deleted his posts because that is complete BS.
