I got a check engine light shortly after installing 200 cell cats. I hoped 200 cell cats would be sufficient to avoid that. Is it normal or a reason to investigate (e.g., bad cats or screwed up install)? If that's normal, does the M Engineering tune address it?

There have been a tonne of threads on this issue...
200 CEL cats will throw codes on the 992...P0420 and P0430 - related to Catalyst System Efficiency.
I presume you are running a high quality cat with HJS mesh that meets Euro 6...therein lies the culprit.
I think HJS tested with same parameters as 991 but the 992 factory sensors are tighter in their calibration.
So...your options are as follows:
1. Keep changing Cats until you find one that doesn't give you as CEL - no guarantees as its a common issue
2. Add an 02 spacer, which may or may not give you a different set of codes
3. Clear to occ harmless CEL with a simple bluetooth OBD scan tool like Veepeak and clear with an app like Torque
4. Tune your car...yes M-Engineering takes care of that.

This is new to me, but if Pad says its a common issue then I'm sure he's right. Im coming from a 991.2 and 200 cell cats didn't throw any codes so I assumed it was the same on 992.
The best solution is a tune and that I know will remove the CEL for good. Option 2 is an O2 sensor which is very inexpensive, attaches to the cat and tricks the car into thinking everything is OK

My Soul 200 cell cats on 992 Turbo S threw codes almost immediately last year (despite assurances wont happen). They sent my bungs which were ill-fitting and a major hassle to retrofit. After a week, they threw codes again. I took the cats off and returned them, even though they wanted to send me different set of bungs/spacers.

Ok so now we know that soul 200 cell cats throw a CEL warning. Does anyone else with another brand of cat get CEL warnings? Let’s try and get to the bottom of this. Is it just the Soul brand or are there any other brands out there with issues?
