Sounds like they still don’t have the required parts for current production cars. No wonder they’re canceling the originally promised retrofit.

992 turbo s (coupe) in Switzerland, my22, delivered end of Jan 2022. electric steering column and both keys at delivery. Is there a logic behind (eg. model/trim dependent) or purely random?

It sounds like it’s just random. If the car arrives on the line where it’s time to install the dash, you get what’s on the shelf.

Well, received the “official” email from PCNA stating that they will not be retrofitting the the manual steering column to the originally stated electric steering column. The email from them stated the following:“At the time of your vehicle delivery, we informed you the ongoing global semiconductor shortages forced Porsche to manufacture your vehicle with a manually adjustable steering column. Your vehicle should have been equipped with the electrically adjustable steering column, which was included in the seat memory package. We informed you of the change in vehicle specification and offered to retrofit your vehicle with the electrically adjustable steering column when it became available.
Unfortunately, since that time, the semiconductor situation has only deteriorated, making it impossible to provide the electric adjustment mechanism. Consequently, we are no longer able to offer you the retrofit. Because we are unable to perform the retrofit, we will provide you with a refund for $1,000.”
🤬😭

It would be great if they would reimburse you at your cost and not theirs. For instance, for them to retro fit lets say it cost them $1000. For you to add the retrofit later it would cost you lets say $3000.

No way!
This is crazy. When I went to pick up my 911 TS, they told me the car was missing the electronic adjustment steering column. The provided me with a document from PCNA stating they would retrofit. There was nothing in the document to state this was subjective on PCNA part. It’s BS that they cannot get these parts. It’s a matter of what they are prepared to pay to get them. For PCNA to arbitrarily decide $1,000 is fair compensation, is crazy. The cost for them to complete the retrofit is meaningfully more (according to my dealer). Also, the way they are handling this is counter to what they have sold us all on the brand. My dealer told me to hold out for more money. I bet if any of us would have showed up to delivery with $5k less than what we owed, we would have never driven off with a car. PCNA did the same to us and we all trusted them. No one needs to buy a $250k car. When doing so, you expect you will be treated with respect and fairly. A good friend that is an attorney told me they have no basis for backing out on a commitment given the documentation they provided at delivery that states what they would do. He said their general counsel should know this. He bets they are just trying to narrow the field of those they have to deal with (ie those that refuse their $1,000 offer). Wonder if there could be a Class Action lawsuit in the makings.

This seems totally random. My delivery was 3-weeks ago (late Feb build), with electric…. Earlier this year, my salesman said that Porsche was pulling the electric columns from other vehicles and prioritizing the 911s, especially those at the top of the brand ladder.
It would appear that the situation is worsening.
