I’m getting an allocation for a 2022 Turbo S build. I’m however undecided on the sport exhaust as an option. I personally prefer the look of the 4 tailpipes over the 2 in the sport exhaust package
1 If I go standard exhaust, will this affect resale?
2 does the sport exhaust add anything to performance or is it all the sound ?
thanks

1. I had a 991.2 (no PSE option offered) and then a 992 with PSE - and I wouldn't buy a 992 without PSE. I can't see the exhaust from the driver's seat, I can hear it.
2. It's just sound, Porsche has never claimed that there are any performance gains from PSE. It's better than without PSE (but not amazingly better).
3. You didn't ask, but for better sound and/or performance aftermarket is the way to go.

This has already been discussed on other threads so you may want to do a search.
Most cars seem to have been ordered with the PSE. One view could be that it could hurt the resale and the other side could be that people like us will buy the quad tail before the oval tip units. I would not worry about this and buy what you prefer.
The main difference is that the PSE valves can be opened by a button inside where the standard is only via throttle opening. This can be fixed by custom programming at your local dealership (search is your friend as there is a member that has a 992 that did it).
No one will say this but the sound of the PSE is same as standard except that at idle you can have the valves open (see above that this can be accomplished with custom button).
As digits said, going after market will yield better sound than PSE which is the route I am taking.

PSE seems the safe way to go...from a resale.
I am not and cold on the rear diffuser on the quad exhaust. Seems like a lot of plastic. I personally prefer the oval.
However, I bet the base exhaust could still sound pretty good with some 200 cell cats...may be a better bang for buck.

I have the sport exhaust on my 2021 I picked up today, and on my 17 991.2, I have the 4 pipe setup that comes standard on the 992, stock for stock the standard 4 pipe system makes almost no noise, Get the sport, it sounds like the car should IMO

You should not compare a 991.2 to a 992. The after market vendors have already stated there is virtually no difference other than a diameter on some pipe between PSE and standard. Don't fall into that trap.

From a purely aesthetic viewpoint, I too was initially disappointed with the 992's 2-tip sport exhaust when compared against the 991's quads. While functionally the same, what really sold me on the appearance was my admiration of the GT2 RS. I doubt anybody has ever passed on one due to its 2 tips, and everything about it makes me drool. And really, quad exhaust tips have been trivialized lately. The WRX has 4, and the next Vette could have 6, who knows. Also, the understated sleeper nature of the TT/TTS aligns with only 2 tips IMO.

The difference is that neither sound like a performance car with 4 tips, the stock sport exhaust offers "some" sound. My dealership out of their orders delivered and pending for turbo or turbo s, the sport exhaust was 8 orders and 4 tips was 2 orders, FWIW

Agree. Even with the new PSE the car is tame. I am a big fan of my sport exhaust. Love the low growl it makes when it is on. I think it is a must order. But I am also a big fan of the lowered 10mm as well. In normal mode with the right tire pressure it is fine even on crappy roads. Lower is always better IMO.
