To be fair, I thought his post was very funny, clever. Creative writing A+, it gave me a big smile because the whole situation is pretty crazy and ridiculous sounding, even though it was all true!

Update: Completion date is 6/27/2020 (about 2 month delay from original production date). The good news is I was able to get the aero package. Originally it was not going to be available on early production cars.

"the Aerokit/Sport Package will be available from calendar week 25/2020 (completion for your Turbo is scheduled for the end of CW 26/2020). My colleagues are optimistic that we can add the Aerokit option. However, they can’t tell me for sure until CW25."

Since the car is not being sold to a dealer (gift/prize) it can not go through the dealer network and must be picked up in Germany. I'm not going so I'll have a logistics co take care of the delivery.

update-- car has been built and has been sitting in Germany but for whatever reason they "wont be ready to release it until the end of July as they are deciding on how to deal with the logistics". There have been a lot of shake ups with-in Porsche (both in racing and management). I'm guessing that the shake up + covid have continued to put delays on everything.

PMNA management was gutted to a shell of what it was, as has the Porsche racing program. But in better news, my 718 GT$ performed great at Sebring yesterday and we got on the podium with a 3rd place finish at the IMSA MPC at Sebring. #porschepower

911’s had a rough go of it today @ Sebring. 912 salvaged a podium finish, but not much competition in GTLM.

911 in GTD had an issue as well.

Overall.. Wasn’t a good day.

Finally took delivery Dec 7.

992 Turbo S Cabriolet. GT Silver, black interior. Aero kit, clear tail lights, LED lamps, Burmeister, front end lift, etc...
Picked it up Monday afternoon in Tampa and drove straight to Daytona where I did 2 days of testing in an LMP3 car.
Great car, very pleased. All it needs is an aftermarket exhaust and a ceramic coating.

So your car is a 2020 I assume. No big deal but crazy how the whole Covid issue turned the world on it’s head (and continues to) that your early spec 2020 is delivered just a few day before all the 2021s are shipping out from port.

I think it is a 2021. It can't be a 2020 Turbo since there is no EPA / CARB approval for a MY2020 Turbo. He just got one of the earliest build slots possible.

Correct its a 2021. I now have the full story, here's what happened. They made 2020 992 Turbo S cabs for the European market. The guys in charge of the Porsche Cup went to arrange shipping in June and contacted Porsche N America, They were told there are no 2020 Turbo S cabs in America and it didnt have EPA documents so they couldnt ship it. First model doesnt start until 2021 in America. Accordingly they had to wait and build me a new one as a 2021 in Sept-Oct which they did and I got it on Monday.

At first it sounds odd they wouldnt know that but keep in mind PNA imports all the cars but they were not the ones ordering the car to be built. The guys who run Porsche Motorsports who dont deal in street cars and dont necessarily get into all the details with every model year and every country were the ones that had it built for me. They tried to do good by me and get me want I wanted as fast as they could. Also I caused a lot of the confusion as the Porsche Cup award is supposed to be a 992 4cs (which was available in the USA in 2020) and I asked to upgrade to the 992 Turbo S and pay the difference. They were nice enough to accommodate me (but that change screwed up their normal procedure). Most of the delay is on me changing the car award and upgrading thru a dept that doesnt normally order street cars. I feel badly for the extra work and confusion I caused and am thankful and appreciative of all their effort and generosity. They have been a stand up manufacturer that really supports Motorsports and I am very happy with the car.

I only have a couple bad pics. One picking up the car at Reeves Porsche in Tampa (Porsche Cup Trophy on rear deck lid) and one with top down. My wife went to all 40 of my races in 2019 so she gets to use it whenever she wants

On a side note (I know its not a Porsche), but this is what I was testing at Daytona all day Tues and Wed this week. Ligier LMP3 car. Going to run it in IMSA Prototype Challange. Man what a difference form a GT car-- totally different in every way. No ABS, no TC, hard short throw brake pedal, easy to lock up. but lots of downforce. It'll be a learning experience. Will still do the full IMSA GS season as well.

no euro delivery because of covid so they sent it thru the regular dealer network and I picked it up at the local Porsche dealer. No air freight so it saved me a bunch but took longer... but was much easier.
