BAT & GT3 prices: a study in manipulation by chicagomarketing
Interesting read. Kudos to @chicagomarketing for diving into the research and analytics of this plausible scenario.
De beers with diamonds is not dissimilar. Swatch sells a particular watch only when it snows in Switzerland and salespeople in stores tell clients that they need to arrive at 2 hours prior to open so they can get one (I don't think that happens).
FOMO is a big driver in emotional purchases.
Unfortunately, being informed and still wanting the car just makes it more painful. Either you don't get it or pay to play.
I got mine recently, but with a feeling like getting a reservation on a trendy restaurant after the chef moved to a different one.

Wonder how (or if) the ST cars may have played into this scenario? ST’s are all now sitting at $650k++ish.. hmmm…
FWIW, I recently watched a YouTube of a podcast w Tom Hartley and Schmee150- Tim Burton, where in a glancing ‘quick’ comment about the (paraphrasing) mess of the market and prices due to BaT and other auction sites. I kinda lingered on that comment for a second wondering what exactly they were alluding to, and me thinks they probably know a lot more than we do.

Highly valued items have enough market that companies get away with it. High margins making up for sales volume. All they need is to sell all minus one. With that said, the current situation is of market manipulation, but I don't see anyone doing anything about it, as it's a "free market".
LOL. I barely have time for basic self care, but I have time for this insanely over complex AI scenario? But I love a good conspiracy, so rock on! Foil hat on!
This "analysis" is riddled with so many factual errors of even basic info: who we are, our business, the bidders and who they are etc, BEFORE even getting to the insane scenario proposed. Sheesh!
The funny part is as someone on the other side of the table from most folks in what we see in terms of data, buyers, bidders, fake accounts, shady sellers etc is that this analysis had the opportunity to pick up much bigger trends and completely missed the mark for the sake of dotted line conspiracy. Bummer.

Context and Clarity may set you free!
Kudos to @chicagomarketing for pulling the analysis together and we all know there's shill bidding on BAT and honestly I feel folks are wising up to BATs "legitimacy".
I've just bought a 718 Spyder returning to the Porsche fold and feel that the brand has now priced itself to the rich and wealthy and forgotten the upper middle class (oh but you can have your Cayenne or Macan sir....LOL). Its financial losses, dependence on the Chinese market and lack of "affordable" NA cars has truly driven folks elsewhere. Folks have also gone elsewhere because of the ADM games especially when they force you to take an unsold Taycan etc in order to get your GT car.
Optimistic but maybe Porsche starts to wise up the Shenanigans dealers play...I'm sure their stakeholders are already expressing their concerns.
