I’ve driven an F8 Spider, an 812 GTS, and a Portofino R on twisty roads through the hills and country side in Italy. All awesome cars in their own way, but honestly at the end of the trip, I wished I had my manual 911 with me to drive those roads. Maybe it was just because I feel more comfortable driving my own cars aggressively, but the 911 just feels more confident to me. The manual transmission is something I missed on those roads too.. there really is no substitute..

Surprised more people don't comment on this. Has the same atrocious rear stance as a corvette.

I was next to an Emira the other day leaving Costco, and I did a double take.

I cant believe were talking Ferrari's like theyre something. Just because a silly 296 was late to the drag race game and can pull hard.

488 overrated HP/TQ numbers. FAKE redline on the tach which can only be reached a certain way. Punches under its weight. Same goes for a lot of other Ferrari's.

Ferrari's are the ultimate poser machines for the most part... unless were talking 12 cylinders. The only Ferrari id cross shop against a GT3 is an F12 or 812. Those are ferraris. The 458/488/F8s of the world are just lookers of their eras. 4 years ago I dusted an F8 with a 991.2 Turbo S. Literally yo-yo'd him on the highway playing with him like a tiger playing with its food.

People seek out a GT3 because they want a GT3. Simple as that. The whole ethos of a 911 is the under the radar "everyday sports car". A Ferrari contradicts a 911

Take the "you can buy a ferrari for that money" talk to people speccing out a 992.2 Carrera GTS IMO.

A Porsche will never out-douche a ferrari by default. Im not sure about what's going on in Houston but its known as America's swamp *** for a reason.

Houstons car scene is the best underground scene in the country.

Theres more secret collections with real equipment than whats made public. To make it more exciting, Houston also probably has some of the best networks and I can say with first hand knowledge it's the second largest Ferrari club in the country(soon to be first).

After attending one of their local events recently I'll second the opinion the user posted above about Houston. Not a single person there was attempting to talk or flex specs.

Porsche people are essentially the fill ins for the prior corvette c&c crowd, except now P-car owners are essentially replacing the lawn chairs for CXX stickers.

Sadly many of them are equally competent to Mustang drivers which is expected when trying to hold back the miles on the clock for value speculation.

As a side note, swamp *** sucks..... that's why our trucks are equipped with *** fans and our wife's don't wear underwear... makes everything easy breezy if you catch my "drift"(insert Mustang pun".

Surprising the amount of defensiveness here when it comes to Ferrari, which I guess is to be expected given It's a Porsche forum. Luckily we all have freedom of choice. Drive what speaks to you. But if you're bashing Fcars without actually spending time behind the wheel, you're missing out.

I think my Emira is one of the most beautiful car designs ever made. It’s more “alive” and raw feeling than the GT3, and you don’t need shrimp money to get an Emira. A year-old one is $90K, which has to be the best value in sports cars.

But the GT3 is by far a better all-around car. A much more “sophisticated” experience.

I love both these cars and took them both out today. If you like manual mid/rear engined cars that make you feel all tingly, both of these are sublime experiences in very different ways.

You like the factory Ferrari wheel gap and wheel offsets?

I've driven practically every Ferrari worth driving, and only the F430 Scuderia really tickled my fancy. Aesthetically modern Ferraris are hideous and a snooze fest to drive.
I tell my Ferrari friends they left the “rear axle lift” up LOL

I kind of agree on that. An F8 would probably be the most tempting, but you are looking at a 2020-2021 CPO and you better keep that CPO going. F8 prices will likely continue to drop also.

The other issue with the modern Ferrari is the overall quality is NOT on par with a Porsche or even a Lambo (which is VAG). Google paint peeling with PPF and Ferrari welds.

And if you think Porsche ADM games are unreasonable, try Ferrari.

The GT3 is great but...out of its league vs F8.
How is it out of its league? Because of the brand recognition and the look of the car? I can agree with that. Otherwise, arguably the GT3 is a much better driver's car.

And I really, really like the F8. I just would not say it's "out of its league".

F8 is a standard production Ferrari. If you are talking Pista, that is another story.

I agree. I LOVE the Emira, and that is an amazing duo. I drove the Emira several times. It is more tosable, more playful, but IMO not as raw and precise as the GT3. I would definitely own both. Those are both ultimate driver cars IMO.

I saw an F8 at C&C a couple days ago. Gorgeous car, looked a level above my Porsches and McLaren. But I wouldn't buy a car based on looks alone, and Ferraris draw a lot of attention (for me, unwanted) in my area.

You mean "C8". LOL. Modern (Hybrid/turbo era) Ferraris are hot garbage. Arbitrary body spacers for panel alignment, toddler level welds, 240p LCD screens, Chris Bangle inspired body lines, the soundtrack of a vacuum cleaner, wheel stances only a Tacoma could love. Porsche is a far superior brand, in every measurable metric. Most importantly purist driving focus. I would even put Mac and Lambo well above Ferrari in terms of engineering prowess and overall build quality (Mac does have fair amount of electrical gremlins though).

Old Ferrari's are great experiences. I have a manual F430 Spider now, and a 599 incoming to convert from F1 to manual. With a Trev360 tune, exhaust and a more modern suspension both offer a great antidote to modern car wizardry while offering enough power to keep it fun.

New cars are becoming uninteresting to me - outside of a manual GT3 Touring.

The only Ferrari I've driven extensively was a 458. I liked it, but didn't love it. Throttle response was way too sensitive, handling was unnecessarily 'nervous' in a gimmicky way, and the car felt a bit too big. The engine did sound good, though.
