Reading all the recommendations regarding break-in gives me a headache. It's beyond my comprehension why people are so **** about their cars. It's not a piece of jewelry nor as fragile as a pane of glass. Doesn't Porsche run their engines for at least an hour before allowing the engine to be installed into the car?

That said, the only precaution I would take is to ensure the engine oil reaches the proper temperature.

Minimizing maintenance cost and maximizing service intervals is exactly why they break them in the way they do. That said, if you're more comfortable letting lawyers dictate how you break in your motor by all means go for it.

The break-in process seems to be unique to Porsche buyers as I’ve bought many other brands over the years and never mentioned if/how this process was done. Along with DME.

I’ve had several BMW M cars, going all the way back to S52 motor… they were always delivered with a required break-in period. IIRC on the later models, it was 1250 miles, and then BMW covered an oil change for you before turning you loose.
