GT3 992.1 or 992.2

Regarding the 992.2 GT3, it seems quite likely to me that Porsche will bring over many of the improvements in the S/T to the .2 GT3, e.g. better suspension tuning and possibly engine changes. Just like the 991 R was the blueprint for the 991.2 GT3 Touring. But yes, you'll get the digital dash and start/stop button with that. Nothing is perfect.

I would NOT expect the following from the S/T to make it to the .2 GT3 - shorter gearing, shorter shifter/throws, LWFW, mag wheels (unless you purchase a ~30k Weissach package)
I would expect the 3RS powerplant and some version of the softer tuning for the Touring model, but it will likely be somewhere between S/T and .1 GT3 stiffness

2025 won't see a manual at all. This will also create an unnecessary uphill battle for future certification. Manuals historical across all brands have higher emissions output due to lack of efficiency.

will they be making .1s in MY25 and people are speculating on a .2 refresh not coming until MY26…or for there to be any future 992s, post current year, it will by definition be the .2 variant?

im actually getting confused by this - does .2 signify 2nd year in production or 2nd variant of the model.

Porsches push will be the .2 for all Non RS models for likely the next 2 yrs. They MUST dig themselves out of the $hitshow of "special editions" they made for the 992.1 generations. It created an absolute logistics cluster for them and factor the newest tech in the equation they have no need nor incentive to rush into the .2 GT cars.
Ask yourself this, why did Porsche make so many LE cars for the 992.1 gen? It's because they 100% know the .2 will be less desired.
This is sales 101, nothing more.
RL needs to understand. Porsche as a brand doesn't need GT cars anymore to satisfy investors. Volume will always be more desired over margins per unit.

There will be no US-spec Model Year 2025 GT3. They will skip this year and introduce the facelift (.2) version in Model Year 2026, most likely. It's a little hard to know for sure, since COVID has impacted the schedule somewhat (there would not have typically been Model Year 2024 GT3's for the US market).
992.1 production is basically over with Model Year 2024, with the exception of some special models like 911 S/T.

50th has an inflation value really and not so much collector value and R has been relatively flatlined and propped by now ST. The reference I made though was largely directed at amount of LE cars.

In particular, there are already long lines for 992.2 models like GT3/Touring/GT3RS/GT2RS, etc...

Porsche generations are typically 7 years long with the first (.1) iteration lasting 4 model years and the facelifted (.2) iteration being 3 model years. GT3 production is typically in years 3&4 (.1) and years 6&7 (.2) of the generation. This rule is occasionally bent with some overlap and small numbers of cars built outside this formula.
