Default 992 GT3 RS tear down for Paint Correction and PPF

Hey guys, figured I’d start a new thread on how hard it is to tear down these new 992s so I’m throwing up some pictures. The car is PTS China Grey with lots off CXX Goods and already started with the mods painted reflectors Akrapovic exhaust euro side markers with custom harness, convex side, mirrors, front and rear dash camera from Porsche and hardwired escort, radar detector, as for the PPF I’m using is Ceramic Pro and the tint is Ceramic Pro as well

Wow I would never let anyone tear down my 500k car like that brand new. What if they don’t put it back right? Every PPF I’ve ever done i always specify to never remove a part even door cards

I totally agree with you but when your best friend works for Porsche, PPF guys aren’t allowed to touch or take apart the car had some people come by to pull apart the car proper way

I did this for my Turbo S with a Porsche Technician for my PPF a year ago. Created 4 new rattles. Never again. The service shop was not happy to say the least.

I agree with you wholeheartedly, and one of the guys in the pics is even wearing his wedding ring. That’s not very professional, but at least he would pass a surprise inspection by his wife.

What happens when a section of PPF needs to be replaced due to scuffing, debris hits etc? Yank bits off the car again?

IMO, this is extreme and overkill. If one must PPF, pre-cut and be done.

Precut and be done as others have said, I have had cars where this was done and when the PPF gets nearing replacement it looks terrible when yellow'd and buckling where tucked into the seams/etc. Also a lot of the screws and parts removed are plastic/composite with threaded screws (think wood type) and the more they are removed/reinstalled the higher probability of loose and rattling.

Wouldn't be my choice to opt for this, but good photos nonetheless.

im in the teardown camp because it's so much cleaner and on light colored cars you see much less visible buildup at seams since they are tucked. but also agree that doing this can cause rattles. it was my concern as well until i found one shop that was able to send me a significant amount of photos from past 992 work so i know their experienced with the model. also, the attention and care to cataloging parts and the owner is crazy ocd on perfection made more comfortable. i had one rattle on the seatbelt pillar after ppf. took it to the dealer, reproduced and they resolved. my detailer also encourages me to bring it to him during the lifetime of vehicle if a rattles pops up in areas he's worked in and he'll resolve at no cost. it's def not for everyone and i have done precut on other, lower cost cars but to me it's just not as clean.
