The GT3 driver correctly states that the truck that forced the collision is at fault. What he fails to acknowledge is that idiots drive these roads and a large degree of defensive driving is essential ... some of those idiots are driving in the opposite direction and can ruin your day. Dedicated roads, Nurburgring as an exampe, do not have opposing traffic; the cost of a driving error is on you. The Tail differs and your choice to select valor as opposed to discretion, which normally would have no consequence, might bite you if you find you've entered a corner at the wrong time when the idiot comes your way. Be advised, whenever a system becomes idiot proof, God presents us with a new, improved, idiot.

agreed with OP, having a fast car doesn't mean you drive like a race driver without any training on pubic roads. its your responsibility to look for for faulty drivers and take evasive action. drive like someone is out there to kill you

I do find the Tail unrewarding and it bears zero resemblance to the Nürburgring in my experience. Two way traffic and not much space for error.

 

There are many other roads in NC that are way less traveled and more rewarding, i.e. 151 near Asheville, NC.......

 

Tons of better roads than the Tail. I don’t care for the blind turns on the Tail. You never know if a cyclist, an animal, a broken down car, etc is around the corner. Here’s a video that details several solid alternatives.

 

Why not go to a local race track to drive fast safely?
Public roads should be for cruising only - not for driving like a moron.

Cruising with a group of well skilled drivers with low traffic is one thing. And driving like a moron on a Saturday mid day with tourists and unaware/unskilled drivers is a moronic thing to do. Plenty of examples of both on RL.

 

Was he not there with the smokies GT group? I wouldn’t say Adam is a moronic driver, or unskilled. There’s tourists on the dragon every day, so that’s a moot point. By your standard, no one should drive on the dragon, in a Sportscar or not, because there are tourists and morons on it.
