600LT Spider Vs Huracan STO
Hello Porsche aficionados!
I'm looking for those who have experience with both cars here. If I go to a McLaren forum, the 600LT is the no brainer and if I go to the Lambo forum the STO is best and they will show me a picture of their "DROPOUT" license plate. Apologies if this is in the wrong place, but I've read almost everything on both these cars on RL and looking for up to date opinions.
I'd love a 992 GT3, frankly its my first pick. But I cant get one and personally I don't think the car is worth $250k+ used for a spec that works for me. So I've landed on these two, I know they have a nearly $100k-$150k price difference, but they are the only 2 cars that really fit what I want. Ferrari F8 is third on this list. For price of Tecnica I'd just get an STO. I do not track anything at this time, my biggest goal is a sense of occasion and something that can make me smile...

This is easy. Huracan Performante. Pricing right now is very ideal. And for a car made in 2018-19, it is just absurd how current it is. Just as fast as anything available for the same money in 2024. The raw emotion that this car will give you is unmatched.

600 LT : I drove one , really impressive , but to me potential headache. Basically Mclaren and out of warranty .
STO : was not able to drive one local , but drove evo and performance . Perfomante felt crazy good , but also most are out of warranty and I felt it might be too much for regular use
just pulled the trigger today on an EVO which I felt it had enough drama for me and under warranty. Will be my first Lambo , and may be get STO down the line depending on ownership experience

i’ve owned a 600LT and Performante, and driven an STO quite a bit.
It depends what you are exactly looking for, but here’s my take:
600LT:
- phenominal driving experience, true drivers car (9/10 driving experience)
- looks fantastic
- sound is 6/10
- i had a bad experience with McLaren build quality
- you will need to get warranty
STO:
- looks insane
- seats suck
- no trunk space
- sound and engine are 10/10
- excellent build quality (no need for extended warrant)
- driving experience is maybe a 7.5/10
Performante is actually a gem, you don’t need warranty with one, the Huracan platform is very solid.

EVO:
- no active aero
- AWD and RWD
- 610hp? (i believe)
- not as loud as a Performante
- 3-4 year production run
STO:
- RWD
- no active aero
- senna brakes and rotors (many don’t know this)
- 640hp
- enhanced brake cooling
- 2 year production run
- basically no trunk space
- hard core track car
- did not set nurburgring record

Owned 2 600LT and driven STO/Tecnica numerous times.
Mclaren LT cars hands down the best chassis in its class. Fast as hell and raw. Gotta buy extended warranty for this car, they don’t have major issues but a lot of small issues that need sorting.
STO/Tecnica despite having over boosted brakes, no feel in the steering (Audi) and no as fast. The engine takes over the entire driving experience. Once you felt the throttle response of the V10 and go back to Mclaren, you felt like the turbo lag was 5 seconds.
If I had to pick one its the 600LT, the handling is just out of this world and it shoots flames in the rear.

The performante seems to be the perfect in-between car. But i really dislike the whole forged carbon stuff and a good one is around 300k and I keep coming back to, why not spend 50-75k more, get a 3-4 year newer car, and a warranty. The performante actually led me to the STO.

Thank you! Its the numerous comments like this and my personal experience with the car that keep me coming back to the 600LT. But its the many online complaints about the brand that keep me away.
I'm just outside Chicago and McLaren Chicago seems to be a good shop and that inspires confidence to go the McLaren route.
Any problems with your 600? Did you go the extended warranty route?

So you’d rather spend the same or more money on a car you like less than a GT3?
Theres a reason GT3 is comfortably above MSRP and STO/McLaren are not.

For me, i really wanted to order a gt3. One huge appeal to me with Porsche is the great list of options and customizations. To make one my own and I love that idea. But used obviously you don't get that and the specs I have in mind are much closer to 300k and to me, i cant see paying 300k for a gt3.
But i know once I'm in the car driving, spec isn't as important.
You are right though, there is always a reason something is more expensive.
