Racing Slicks on 992 GT3RS for Track Use
#61
Another way to look at it: the 992 3 and 3RS are already so fast that there are very few people to play with at track days. Make the cars a few seconds faster and you make the pool even smaller. Sure, I can go out every session with the goal of trying to do my fastest ever lap - competing with myself - but we all know that's going to be dependent on weather, traffic, tire condition and other factors.
I get it, but I'm personally happy stock and on street tires.
I admit, I'm very curious about the Manthey 3RS kit. I can't see how they're going to make it worth the cost, in terms of lap time improvement over 2-3 miles, but we'll see.

I ran the stock Pirellis on my 992 3RS for 3 days at Laguna and they were ok. The best lap was 1:33 as I am just getting used to the car and its insane level of grip.
I had a 600LT before which I ran AR-1's on stock wheels for the first 12 or so days and then switched to 19" wheels with slicks and dropped 4 seconds of my lap time. I managed a 1:31.
I have 19" wheels with Michelin slicks I will be running on the 3RS and so looking forward to the increased grip. Hope to drop below 1:30 eventually.... Yes of course the car is insanely fast on street rubber but with slicks it's going to be a different beast all together. I'm not racing anyone there but I do enjoy pushing myself and seeing what lap times I can get.

Hydrologic, Report back on the 19" Michelin slick lap times. I recently bought a set of 19" wheels but haven't mounted the rubber yet. Was leaning Pirelli DH, but a friend with lots of fast cars runs Michelins.

yet you can put cup 2 r on the car, which porsche says is like a slick when it's new. looks like a case of the left hand not talking to the right (lawyers and engineers)
