Correct... and I checked the part number sticker on the GT3 windshield the guy was replacing. Same part number. (It was a GT3 touring to be precise).

All 911s share the same windshield frame so no different other than allowing for cameras, heating, etc

What are people getting quoted for the installation of a windshield @ a Porsche dealer vs Indy?

Curious if you ended up replacing with the regular glass and if it all worked out?

I have the non-lightweight glass on order, it's been a few weeks. I'm not sure what the holdup is, as the parts guy said it was a few days out. I'll definitely post an update on how it works out.

Is windshield and glass insurance worth it? I can get coverage for $55/month with a $50 deductible.

I have lightweight glass as well. My normal auto policy the deductible is $5k so no coverage there…

Which provider? I’m considering it for my 3RS and my dealer is offering 60-month coverage from a third-party for about $6K.

WE are $4,051.65 plus install. The Glass is 4-5 days away

Canadian... $$$ - Going to pull this insurance policy on the glass. I would have to use it once every 6 years just to break even.

So broken windshield on 992.1 GT3 is a prevalent problem?

I have participated in several Porsche Experience events, particularly the Master 992 RS event, where a large number of new RS cars have been driven around the tracks since April 2023. The only recurring issue they've had is with cracked front windshields and overheating hydraulic systems for the rear wing, so as early as April 2023, I was advised not to purchase the lightweight windshield, but rather to opt for the Turbo's windshield, as you mentioned. Because the lightweight windshield kept cracking left and right when we drove these RS cars. Perhaps the windshields have been reinforced now? But countless RS cars had cracked windshields in April 2023, and I heard that this continued until July 2023.

These Master RS driving events are good for Porsche because they got an early check on how the cars really performed around the tracks in Europe. We went hard full-on with those cars at the Master RS event, and the only issue was the cracked front windshield and the rear wing hydraulics overheating and shutting down (a common occurrence, at least). So, opting for the Turbo windshield is not a bad idea, because the problem was that people's private cars had windshields that cracked, and they couldn't deliver the windshields either for a long time. A Turbo windshield is probably the right way to go. Who wants to deal with cracked front windshields anyway? And nobody gets faster around the track because of a lighter front windshield :-) anyway..

I put PPF on all my windscreens on both my RS cars. Can't take a chance with rocks. I've already cracked my rear quarter glass which was fortunately covered by warranty.
