992 ST LWFW & Clutch fitted to 992 GT3
No I haven’t done it, but if it was ever available aftermarket I’d be very tempted.
Any views as to whether this could be feasible?

@Jbravo23 Where did you go???Update pls
Lots of talk of 992 being too refined. I myself was somewhat in that camp after trading in heavily modded 991.2 for stock 992 touring. Dundon headers and exhaust helped with that. Now paired with this smfw and the car feels possessed upon start up. The chatter and vibrations really feel race car ish.
The clutch is heavy. Well heavier I should say. Feels more 997 GT3 than it does 991.2/992. Requires more effort which I enjoy. The description they gave for the s/t is it’s an old modern car and I have to agree. I think most of that has to do with the smfw, heavier clutch, less sound deadening and overall less weight.
I do have to recalibrate my brain when shifting gears. The revs drop insanely fast. Rev match works flawlessly but it’s almost not even needed anymore. You tap the throttle and the rpms go exactly where you need them to be. In that sense it feels like a different car that needs to be learned.
I measured 21.8lbs in total reduction. The dual mass flywheel itself is 25lbs. After holding the parts in hand, it’s incredible they removed that much weight from the drivetrain.
It’s too early but based on today I’m not sure I would want to do the shorter gearing. The s/t is going to be a riot and kudos to those who have one coming. It wouldn’t surprise me if some might think it’s too much. Props to anyone who daily’s that thing.
This mod already requires more driving effort, so adding shorter gears which means more shifting and less sound deadening for a louder cabin isn’t going to be for the faint of heart. It really will feel like an old school race car for the road. Which is interesting because it requires more effort to drive but then has a softer suspension. Porsche and their sorcery….
I feel it will be a more point A to point A type of car. Think carrera gt. Hate to think the amount of them that will sit. They should be driven hard and often!
With that said I f in love it. I’m glad I did it. The car feels special and I’m thankful to own one of these gems.
Thanks to Sharif and John over at Porsche Westwood for quick and easy install.

Completely different clutch and gearing on the ST transmission. The gearing also changes the experience - which is 8% shorter so there’s more upshifting/downshifting. I’m sure it’s doable but man I’ve been hearing 25-30k just for the clutch alone since it’s a carbon clutch and low numbers given it’s only going into the S/T so far. I’d imagine if they release it for other cars (would be surprised) it may drop in price. FWIW I also hear that it’s made by Sachs - so maybe it can be sourced outside of Porsche.

Afaik S/T does not have a different gearbox than the standard GT3 other than the clutch and flywheel. The gears are 8% shorter because of the shorter final drive ratio in the diff. Other than that the physical gears in the 911 S/T trans are identical to the standard GT3 gears
So a different final drive is a difference in the gearbox.
Yes, the 6 forward gear ratios are maintained from the GT3.

Lwfw and shorter final drive makes a big difference in driving experience.
You’ll probably get 90% close to a S/T experience. so even with $50k all in to do the conversion to your Touring it’s probably worth it.

There is NO WAY anyone would do this to their touring for what the actual cost would be, if its even possible. Just buy a 911 R at whatever market is and get a car thats at least tuned for a LWFW and can be CPO'd for the heapload of money you'll spend to kill your warranty as no Porsche shop would do this either.

And the GT3 RS has even considerably stiffer springs and is apparently very comfortable with the right settings.
