Default Dundon & TechArt Upgrades effect on future value

What is the future effects of value of a 992 with these upgrades? My local Porsche dealership manager has always been against any upgrades like that but doesn't give any good reasons. I'm really considering getting one of these upgrades, but what's your guys' take on effect of future value?

I think mods might affect resale if they are distasteful. They don’t tend to add value but may speed up or slow down a sale. Me personally, the Dundon wouldn’t phase me so long as it’s not annoying. When I see techart my first thought is, kill it with fire! The body kits and stick on doodads they sell are some of the most gawdy butt *** ugly things I have ever seen.

As a former car dealership owner, cars with mods don't normally fetch extra money. If they are tasteful and may appeal to the masses, they may not lose value. Mods that are gawdy or wild will be worth less since the audience for said cars are smaller.

The Dundon exhaust is easily reversible back to stock. The Dundon exhaust will also have good resale value so as long as you keep your factory exhaust, you can easily put the car back to stock.

Always keep the factory parts for resale. It has never hurt my vehicle transactions in the past.

Putting car back to stock is a requirement to get max value. You will get no more dollars for mods, and if anything, you will reduce the value. PPF is about the only exception.

I agree. I am hoping that MR will be another exception in the future.

MR should add value since it is technically Porsche parts. The car that welcomes you at Leipzig is a MR GT3. I added an aerokit to my C2S and the dealer is saying it will add value to the car when I go to trade it in for my incoming GT3.

Your techart upgrade will probably devalue the car when it comes to selling it. Unless you can revert it back to stock.

Dundon will probably not devalue the car, but it won't increase it. It's easy to uninstall though so keep your stock exhaust components!

Also, the dealer cannot certify pre-owned a modded car.

From experience I can tell you any mods devalue a GT car. Possibly not MR, but thats a recent development. There are no "tasteful" things, don't delude yourself, no matter how much they are worth. To CPO the car, as others have stated, the car goes back to stock, complete with fresh OEM spec tires. Also, if you have not already noticed, there is this odd fear of track usage, and any mods indicate the owner was a hard core track rat who abused and tortured his car. It's irrational, I know, but thats how it is.

Hard to see Dundon REDUCING value unless it's something very loud / not street legal for emissions. That doesn't mean that you won't make more money by reverting to stock and selling the Dundon separately.

reversible mods are ok, because you'll have to reverse them to really get your money back.

also, a hack for you track buddies:

remove the carpet before you put in the roll bar- don't cut holes in the carpet. if you're really tracking the car, it's lighter anyway.

then, when you sell: remove roll bar, sell by itself and put the carpet back in.

IMHO there is nothing from Techart that I define as "tasteful." It just makes an elegant car gaudy. I personally would not buy a vehicle that has been modified or "tarted up."
