PSA: 992 GT3RS Dead Battery
#16
I’m actually with a Porsche dealer, and this is for one of the first 992 RS customer cars… couldn’t find anything on the forums so wanted to help warn owners
We did try this and the difference is the RS does get some power as the taillights flash when you press the unlock on the key, however door sill buttons are still non response even by holding it for 2 seconds

so you are saying factually:
1. the procedure as documented for the 2023/2024 911 GT3 RS does not work - and you have personal experience with this…
2. there is no procedure for unlocking the frunk with a dead battery on a 2023/2024 911 GT3 RS?
and the dealer knows this and Porsche Germany has no response?

Ferrari doesn't make battery tenders. Porsche doesn't make battery tenders either. C-TEK makes battery tenders for those companies and many other.
As a matter of fact,it is known in the industry that these auto manufacturers are nothing but engineering design companies that " don't really make anything " ,almost every component comes from different suppliers all over the World and the company puts them together.
Getting back to the point, many companies that make battery maintainers/booster offer the " battery slow revival " feature : NOCO comes to mind,C-TEK,Schumacher etc.

CTEK - 40-206 MXS 5.0 Fully Automatic 4.3 amp Battery Charger and Maintainer 12V https://a.co/d/hsz7EVa
I don't have experience with either of these, so I'm asking here before I buy one. Thanks

Is that the correct charger? It doesn't say it supports Lithium or LiFePO4 batteries. Here's another CTEK that does say it works with LiFePO4: https://www.amazon.com/CTEK-56-926-L...00EUF6UM8?th=1

To be honest I haven't checked to see if the one I've posted works with Lithium, the reason I've posted it was because it said it works with most batteries and it comes with the so called " Reconditioning " feature. The one you've posted does say it works with Lithium but doesn't have the " Recond " feature.
it's even been tested in adverse conditions - in that last week we finally found "root cause" for a CEL and why my car "died" after only 2 weeks (that would only show when not trickle charging) that was induced by vampire drain due to a faulty $299 electronic's module…
6 months of using this charger zero CEL's - 2 weeks with out it and my CEL problems were back…
gory details here…https://rennlist.com/forums/992-turb...500-miles.html
I've already bought the 2nd CTEK for my RS

I'm still confused - so you've tired the procedure outlined in the RS manual and it does not unlock the frunk?
so you are saying factually:
1. the procedure as documented for the 2023/2024 911 GT3 RS does not work - and you have personal experience with this…
2. there is no procedure for unlocking the frunk with a dead battery on a 2023/2024 911 GT3 RS?

Car is being towed into the dealer to see what the next step. We are unsure if it is this specific car's problem or not but not much sample data out there yet.

Yup we have tried that procedure following the manual to a tee and no luck. Advising customers with these cars to either plug in a charger or leave the frunk popped in storage to avoid this situation for now.

And, as someone else mentioned, important to have a very solid negative ground. Door hinge typically works.
