C40 Mobile One Oil - Low Oil Warning (1500 miles over the last Service!)
2022 GT3 / 2,200 miles
had service done at 700 miles (oil change should have been done)
TODAY I got the low oil warning. Barely any oil the meter says in the car. Never tracked the car, don’t beat on it at all.
Requires C40 Mobile One Oil.. not the standard A40 0W-40 had to special order it…
So wtf is going on.
Low Oil Warning (1500 miles over the last Service!)
so 1 or more of these scenarios are true:
1. dealer didn’t do the oil change
2. the 992 GT3 burns through oil that fast!! 1,500?
3. Bad oil sensor
4. Oil leak (checked the car and garage. Nothing)
Any feedback? Could these cars really burn through the oil in 1500 miles (road driving not track)

I've never had the low oil warning (you should check it more frequently - at least at every fueling), but I'm guessing it comes on at the bottom of green zone (only a liter or quart low).
The problem is that Porsche is requiring only 0W40 oil for efficiency and higher oil temps for emissions, but this is easily burned off. The 991.2 had 5W40 and 5W50 approved as well which is no longer approved for the 992.

It burns oil. All of my GT cars have burned oil. Even if the dealer tops off for you, double check the cap. It goes on in one orientation, but you can turn it in any orientation without being correctly installed. My dealer screwed it up, and it dumped about a quart of oil all over the back of the car and headers. Nearly caught on fire.

So we experienced similar with the oil warning light coming on at 1100 miles. Finding the C40 oil is tricky as most gas stations don’t have it (only the old A40 approved 0W-40). Local Porsche dealer said that this 992 GT3 is the quickest oil burner Porsche has produced, not sure on credibility though.
How come you had the car serviced at 700 miles?

Amazon is your friend. Order a 6 or 12 pack. You will need it if your drive this car…

Just keep a QT in the frunk and fill more than you think you would.
The dealer didn’t do you dirty. These things drink oil.

At 1,100 miles I had the check oil light come on. I added 3/4 qt and the indicator showed as such. I assume it came with full oil level, so I lost a qt
now, at 2,300 miles, the car indicator sometimes shows 1/2 green bar and sometimes 1/4 green bar… so I’ve probably lost an additional 1/2 qt or so in the last 1,200 miles
tldr… I’m burning oil but at a slower pace

Hre's my experience . . .
First off, I've been very careful in not overfilling and going past the 3/4's mark per the manual.
Have a measuring cup that that I use for my 2-stroke motocross bikes. So it's no big deal being diligent filling with oil periodically.
As a result, I was adding 4 ounces here and there and sometimes 6 and sometimes 8. I had the oil warning light come on several times during my first 1500 miles.
First light came on at 470 miles. I never checked the oil at delivery so there's no way of knowing where the oil level was to begin with. I put in 4 ounces to get it up off the lower mark.
At 617, I got another oil light and I put in 8 ounces at the time. That got the oil level back to the halfway mark. I added a total of 26 ounces in my first 1500 miles. It's break-in and to be expected.
No big deal. The primary objective is not to go above the 3/4 mark.
Like Raymort said above.... these things drink oil.
But it should start to slow after break-in.

Just be really really careful filing it up! Any spills go down to the exhaust. I saw a car that ignited from the oil hitting the exhaust. It was put out in a couple of minutes, but it totaled the car.

Yes, when adding oil (especially after diy oil change), you need to pour new oil slowly or it can easily spill inside the rear bumper and onto exhaust.

I've owned my 22 GT3 from new. I followed strict break-in protocol on euro delivery and no track time (just spirited canyon drives). Over 4700 miles I've used: 1 qt at 900 miles, 1 qt at 2500 miles and 1 qt at 4200 miles. I have 4700 miles and my meter is 1/2 way green. I had the car at the dealership twice for this issue. It has been checked, assessed and re-checked and determined/documented to be normal. I just keep a qt of oil in the frunk at all times now. Seems to be a more common issue than I thought as the 718 RS thread also has a few people noticing oil consumption.
