Default 992 Narrow/Wide Body Differences?

Maybe a stupid question but I need to get to the bottom of this. When the 992 was revealed Porsche had stated that there would no longer be a narrow bodied 911. Now I'm hearing this narrow/wide body term again. The GT3 is based on the Carrera body, and the new GT3RS is based on the turbo wide body. So......what exactly is the difference between the two body styles other than the turbo intakes on the qtr panels?

Go ahead tear into me, I can handle it

So the 3RS is nearly two inches wider. Guess I better put my 3 up for sale (once it arrives) and sell my soul for a 3RS allocation. Because who doesn't want another two inches?

OTOH, I read a rumor that the widebody car has narrower mirrors. So when the mirrors are extended, the cars are equal width.

Phew, for a minute there, I was worried.

Why is the RS almost 2 inches higher? Is it because of the wing being above the roof line?

That's what I'm curious about. Wouldn't make sense if it wasn't the wing as both cars use 20"/21" inch tires.

Porsche press kit mentioned that the 992 RS was the first 911 with the wing higher than the roof, so it's probably the wing.

Back to the original question - there used to be 3 body types: Narrow (Carrera and S), Medium (4 and 4S), and Wide (Turbo, RS). They got rid of "Narrow", so now there are only two - Medium and Wide. But because it makes no sense to call the narrowest available body "medium", it became "Narrow" and "Wide", creating this confusion with both the Narrow body cancelled in 992 but then most 992s having the Narrow body (which would be Medium in the old classification). The difference is pretty much the width and the vents above rear wheels that are in almost all wide-body cars (SC is the only exception, as far as I know).

^^^This

Other than to add that for the 991s the GTS (both regular and 4 GTS) and the GT3 (including R, touring) all used the "Medium" body as well.
