Not yet - it’s expected to arrive at the dealer this week.

I don’t see the GT3 and SC as being directly comparable models - they each have distinct personalities which will suit different owners.

Him and his cohorts advocate PAG at every opportunity possible (there is no weekly podcast where they don't mention Porsche) while the brand is not necessarily reciprocating.

Amen. Then again, anyone in his shoes would do the same.

Yep he's getting old and soft, and there is just so much useless over the top drifting that one can take before throwing up...

His recipe is well known, and his initial adulation over newly released car followed by crapping over it when it arrives in UK has grown tiresome; he's done it to the Alfa 4C among others...

He should take a page from Harry Metcalfe's book and respect the machinery instead of mistreating it and indulging in asinine drifting with no inherent value. Was fun and novel in 2010 not so much 15 years later....

I own both cars and I can tell you I personally rate the Touring over the SC. The shifter in the Touring is so much better than one in the SC.

Watch these youtube videos with a grain of salt. Don't believe what journalists say, trust your own senses.

This.

I had been lusting over a Touring with couches, but never pulled the trigger. When the SC became an option, I didn’t hesitate as it filled my gap better than the GT. All of the heritage stuff speaks to me and I like the GT (as in Grand Touring) focused tuning. I’ve had less than 1k miles in mine, and all of those on unfamiliar roads, but it was a great road trip and twisty road car. I’m never going to the track (not in my car) so a reasonably compliant ride with a very nice interior suits my use better. I’m still in the middle of the break-in period, so can’t say how its manners are with liberal throttle, but power was right there for me the couple of times I needed to pass slower cars in the twisties.

I really like the package and am super grateful to have my car, but no way would I go around saying that the Sport Classic is better than a Touring. They’re different cars for different preferences. Given more time, space and resources, I’d have both in a heartbeat.

These two models are different enough, that proclaiming one universally better than the other is pointless. They each have their strengths that will speak to different owners or different uses.

Chris got far more money selling/promoting the sale on his CollectingCars platform.

And why bash the 992 Touring when previously he raved about it being the better car? Flipping a highly-specced nearly new 992 vs selling his beat up 991.2 Touring again got Chris far more money. Simple,

Do I bemoan Chris Harris for going for the money play? Of course not. But to **** on Porsche like a butt-hurt crybaby was pretty low class. Integrity lost.
That’s quite a grift for a measly 50k or so.

So far, 8k miles on my Touring and 2k on my Sport Classic.

Both good cars,
Ironically, the Touring is a much better sports car than the Sport Classic.
Also ironically, the SC is a much better touring car than the Touring.
Porsche is hilarious 😆

My views on the 2 cars -

I’m not going to say which is a better car because that is highly subjective.
For me, having owned pretty much every GT 911 since the 991.1, the SC is my second favorite to the R, and it is a close second.

What I will say is that they SC is a much more unique and special experience … GT cars are exactly what you expect, fantastic precision machines that excel on track and are visceral on public roads, I’ve never gotten into one and said ‘well this is different’ I’ve only been in awe of how much better they get with each update. For reasons that I have mentioned in my thread on it (I should update that) the SC was a brand new 911 experience for me, one that’s keeps getting better.

I have let many of my P car friends drive it and all walk away in awe, and many have had the same reaction as CH. This isn’t to say that he or they are correct, like I said all this is highly personal, but when some of you attack the messenger without ever having driven the car you are showing your insecurities.

The GT3 Touring is not actually a "Touring". It's a full on GT3 without the aero. If you're looking for something compliant to daily on less than perfect roads or backroads, CH is right. A SC or a GTS or a TT would be a better "Touring". Real Tech/comfort features as well.

Seems like CH must have bought another Touring since his crash in 2018. He now has a Yellow 991.2 ( wrapped in another shade of yellow). The photos of the Touring in the 2018 article is black.

SC is just a grampa version of Turbo - out of breath and in a corduroy suit. It literally has all the drawbacks of Turbo (weight, turbo engine sound and lag, limited aero, strut front suspension) but not all of the advantages (no power, no AWD). I'm not sure why SC is even discussed in GT3 forum - the only thing in common with GT cars is interest from flippers/collectors. Touring is a real sportscar for self-conscious people. Touring wins by a huge margin.

Please post pics/vids of you driving the SC … otherwise opinions without direct experience are as worthy as reviews of restaurants you never ate at..

Wonder where the M5 CS ranks vis-a-vis the 911 SC in Harris' totem pole of road cars.

Im sure the SC is a wonderful car and I want one, if I can find one at a reasonable price. I fully understand it’s a different car than a gt3, with a different use case and I would not give up my touring for it. Of course, I am also a huge fan of the 992 turbo s and I suspect the SC benefits from being a turbo that enthusiasts are officially permitted to like on a public forum, whereas we are supposed to complain about awd/weight/pdk in the turbo s.

They knocked it out of the park with the looks of the SC and the mechanicals (rwd, mt, carbon fiber parts) are just enough to make it very special. 1,250 unique units in this format since what 2007 gt2?, whereas there are multiple versions of gt3, 997 3rs and r with the mt/na set up.

Do we think they will do a 992.2 gt2/gt2 touring? I’ve heard this rumor before and Lieberman speculated on the possibility on a podcast recently with the SC as the beta test.
