Secret to touch up paint??
I've been trying to repair a scratch on my Agate Grey..."forgot to shake the bottle long enough". Color did not match and had to wet sand it all out. Not sure it would have matched regardless. This after watching a youtube vid where poster mixes "hardener", and "clear coat" in with the paint, before applying. Not sure if any of those steps would help you. You could always paint a piece of paper/cardboard first, to test color.
Also bought the gold paint needle/dispenser things (haven't used yet) per AMMO NYC, as there is more work to be done on the air intakes. Although I may be switching to the "smear method" for those:

The other thing is, "is the paint, actually missing?" If you're not seeing primer, then you may have just needed "clear coat". I thought the actual paint (color) was missing, but could have just filled in with clear, and polished.
I have a bit of paint missing, more than I thought at first.. My issue is this touch up paint doesn't seem to be even close to the right color for whatever reason. It appears to have much more metalic fleck in it or something.. I will try mixing it better I suppose. Thanks again for the help.

I like Dr Colorchip for the actual paint, but I don't use their blending solution, I always find a bit too much paint is taken out, or not enough. I combine this with the touchup painting pen that Larry from Ammonyc uses. I did a thread on this.

I used some official Porsche Agate Grey Metallic Touch Up Paint.
It seemed to work pretty well on a tiny nick on the edge of my driver's side door before I had PPF installed.
I did the metallic first, and then followed up with the clear.
The color was a definite match.

for me, it's all about the applicator. i look at the paint chip as a shallow hole that needs to be filled. i don't attempt to do it in one application. often times, i'll use a toothpick or a tiny paintbrush and lightly add paint until it bleeds out and fills the chip. patience and a very small applicator is the key - for me.

Anyone ever try a spray? I bought this too, we will see.

I have a feeling you didnt shake the bottle long enough. Use dr colorchip, better than OEM.
One exception, I had a chip repair done on my Ferrari by a great paint shop (former winner of Pebble Beach Concours) and I literally could not detect any repair.
Most experts will say to repaint the whole panel or leave it alone.
I have to agree, unless the chip is really bad. In most cases in my past, the repair was worse than the chip.

Yep! Dont do it yourself. Have it done by a professional. Apparently this guy is a magician.

The thing about paint chip repair is that to do it properly, you gotta wait at least 24 hours after each layer, building it up very slowly. If done too quickly, it looks good first but thinner evaporates and leaves a divot.
