After months of searching I finally got one. Here’s how my journey went… (Photo Below)
Several months ago I went by a (new) buddy’s house and he was working on changing a few sensors on a 2015 911 Carrera S. I filled in as the assistant, handing him this and holding that. When he was done he said, let’s go make sure it works. Naturally I climbed in and oh my. It was fun and quite frankly, a little scary. You see, I didn’t know the fellow that well and I definitely didn’t know the capabilities of the car. Naturally this left me a little uneasy riding as a passenger. We cruised around town for about 20 minutes eventually pulling in to a parking lot. He looked at me and said, she’s working great, now it’s your turn. I smiled and ok. We switched places and buckled up. I looked at my friend and said, “you were moving this stick while you were driving, where do I need to put it”. He looked at me with huge eyes and said, What, You don’t know how to drive a stick? I looked at him, smiled and said, hang on as I was letting the clutch out. We drove for another 30 minutes and I said, I got to have one.
After watching/reading countless reviews about the 911 I was focused on the GT3 and went to talk to the dealer. He was happy to talk to me about it but when it came time to discuss buying one he quickly told me that those weren’t available. They were saved for the repeat customers.
I made some calls to a few contacts and was quickly talking to the GM. He told me that he would put me in the list and that even though they were GM getting 100k ADM, he was going to hook me up with a 50k ADM. I was stoked.
I sat on the “list” and followed up every 3-4 weeks. As time went by, I was slowly making my way to the top and for 3 months now, I’ve been at the top (1st) of the list for 50k ADM. Then I find out that someone from my dealership got an allocation. I was like wtf, I’m in 1st place, how did that happen? That’s when I was told how the list really works.
They put your name on the “list” and next to it they put the amount of allocation you are going to pay. So the order of the list is second to the $$ you are willing to pay, and if anyone below you on the list is willing to pay more, then you’re behind them. Pretty much the list is sorted by money and then order. The guy that was below me paid 100k ADM. At this point I was defeated and told the dealer to raise my ADM to 100k and if I would’ve know that I would’ve done it from the beginning.
I couldn’t help to feel that I had missed the boat. Then I got a call from the dealer telling me they didn’t think they would get another GT3 allocation. He said they had just got a GT4RS if I want it but it had a 75k ADM.
I was bummed. Bummed and defeated, I still looked everyday on Porsche’s website. I saved dozens of searches on Porsche.com and would get an email if one popped up. Basically I built a search with a 500 mile radius of each metropolitan.
I would get one or two emails a week. When I would call, I would get the “It’s an allocation for someone and not available”. So weeks in to this I called and low and behold the car was available but they were expecting a buyer’s deposit any minute. I quickly asked about ADM and being out of state. They told me out of state was fine and that the ADM was 40k. I told them I would take it and quickly wired the money hopefully beating anyone else that was in the works.
The deal is done and ready for pick up. I’m going to fly to Illinois on Wednesday and bring her home.
Wow. Good for you man bc I contacted them when I was looking. Saw them post the car around mid-November and they came back to me with $319! LoL. I was like nope but thanks anyways. I know the sticker is $225 bc I still have it saved. Nice spec!! Great job getting them to 40k. So they came down 54k in 3months. Kudos to you! 🥂

Make sure you call the dealer from their website and have them put you to the sales rep you sent money to and is indeed the same person. 40k is a lot to lose on scam.

I did my homework on that one. Could you imagine wiring that much money just to lose it. Omg. I’m sure it has happened, sadly.
Congrats! I was following that car as well, I love the spec and the interior is great too with the buckets and blue stitching. My 992 should be here in a few weeks. We should meet up when you make it back to Dallas!
If you have not looked into temp ppf, take a look at track armour or tracwrap. The front end of the car will get killed on the 900 mile trip without it.
