Even my 600LT is significantly faster than my GT3RS, so you can only imagine how much faster the 765LT is.

Honestly, the 765LT has made me pretty “meh” about even getting a 992 GT3RS. If I can get one at MSRP I will, but with the ADMs apparently being charged, no way. It’s definitely not worth 765LT money.
It does change the game, nothing else really compares. I sold my Pista shortly after getting it.

Agreed. I love my 718 GT4 and have driven several GT3/GT3RS's on track and road and love them all as they are wonderfully built, fun, and quick. But after driving a friend's 650S on track, 675LT on road, and a 720S on road/track the McLarens are really in a completely different league. The 675LT is so good its crazy... steering feel, insane power, raw, great transmission, sounds exotic, incredible visibility, air brake and active aero really noticeable difference, exotic looks. The 720S is like a spacecraft that can be daily driven and the 765LT is amped up even more.

If I had a local dealer and a larger wallet a McLaren would be in my garage, truly next level. Cheers to those who have them!

California is blessed with a host of nice tracks, large highways, and coastal roads. And it’s not Virginia, where they will jail you for minor speeding violations.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I’ll say the aesthetics of the 765 and regular gt3 are far more appealing to me than the cup wannabe 3RS. The 765 looks fantastic in person, so you’d drive it like any Lambo or Ferrari too. Maybe not your thing.
I agree on point one. I daily a 992s cab with stick...it gets to 100 in third gear. I also love my 992GT3. But aslo agree the macs are on another level.

When my boys finish college I will get a 765LT.

Be aware that McLaren's new car warranty covers mechanical failure at the track (if you go to the dealer prior to and after each event), but I think the warranty for track use does not transfer to subsequent owners (whether still using the new car warranty or the certified extended warranty). IMO, this is a significant departure from Porsche (and several domestic makers of track cars).

Because I investigated buying a used McLaren and this was a primary concern of mine. Please illuminate me.

I know Manifold intends for a potential used McLaren to be a track car for himself and thought it would be relevant. I have no interest in spreading false info, so please correct me where I'm wrong.

I think there's a bit of nuance that needs to be added here

The Mclaren warranty does transfer if made private party to private party.

But it does not transfer if there is an intermediary 3d party (such as a dealer); in other words, if you sell the car to a Mclaren dealership and the dealership then sells it to a private party the warranty does not transfer.

This of course only applies to the ECS (or Extended Coverage Service contract). The OEM warranty would transfer by law,

That's my understanding anyway.

Thanks - is there a track exclusion for coverage under the ESC (I had been told there was)?

Here's a good write up on tracking a Mclaren from Mclaren LIfe

Grant, as a non-owner I can only speak from second hand information (as I have a few friends who extensively track their Mclarens, a 600LT and a 720S).

I think the major exclusion is that under ESC you can only track at Mclaren sponsored HPDE events, which is a big **** you (!) to those that like to track their cars on their own time.

Of course the folks that I know that track their cars out of OEM warranty, have ways of getting around this (and being the smart guy you are, I am pretty sure you can figure out what ways those are, so no need to post it publicy).

My nearest McLaren dealer is more than 1.5 hours away, and the warranty coverage has all sorts of limitations, so I think I have to assume that I'd have no warranty if I track the car. What's the typical cost to replace the engine and transmission in say a 600LT?

When the engine blew up on my 675lt after labor, parts etc it was a 60k price tag. AND Mclaren dealer and HQ tried to weasel out of my $5k a year extended warranty. Oh and it took 4 months.

this is consistent with co-workers who have owned…great cars until they aren't - and then you realize they are not volume manufacturer…no doubt the car is faster than Porsche - there are choices that are faster than Porsche - I still have yet to see anything faster than Porsche that is as serviceable as Porsche's tend to be. But I'm mostly like wrong as many people have suggested - enjoy your Laguna lap times faster than my 991.2 GT3 or upcoming GT3 RS 992…I'll stick with Porsche for now.

Everyone’s experience is different. I’ve owned 5 Macs and have yet to experience any major problems or items that weren’t immediately addressed by the dealer under warranty. The performance and overall driving experience of McLarens makes them worth tolerating the occasional quality niggle that I’ve encountered. That said, I’m not looking forward to the inevitable battery replacement in my P1 however I accept it as part of the ownership cost.

Any event authorized by your dealer counts as “McLaren sponsored”. This is basically just pushing the track inspection clause to the dealership.
