992 GT3 Lacking Tech
#31
I would not mind better tech - but Porsche is not a tech company. So if I send them a buyer signal that I want more tech, I'm going to end up with 3rd tier tech in a 1st tier drivers car. Porsche does GT3s well, they DO NOT do tech well. Let's not confuse the poor company.

OP - I think this is the ethos of the porsche brand. Very much rooted and focused in motorsport and known as a drivers car. Not having these options is a conscious and deliberate decision by the team to stick to the porsche brand ethos.
You aren't getting roasted but I think the point of all the comments are: if those options are important to you, then maybe a different brand or car would be best for you.
The options you listed are what car manufacturers add to keep up with the pack. If you are at the lead of the pack (like Porsche), you can make whatever decision you wish.

Said differently, porsche's core consumers are more concerned with a different type of tech - like individual throttle bodies, the best transmission on the planet, aero advancement and how a chassis is tuned relative to the steering and engine.
The tech you mentioned (blind spot monitoring, hud, digital dash, park assist and surround view) are all fluff and, for many porsche consumers, take away from the driving experience. I have this tech on other cars and I HATE it. I've driven close to 700k miles in my lifetime and can park and drive a car without it.

To the OP- hang in there. Keep researching, the GT cars are worth the effort imo. Consider looking in to your local PCA region and chat with owners etc. To be fair a digital dash would be closer to the factory race cars.

OP, if you are looking for tech the GT3 is not for you. Look at a Turbo or GTS where you can get what you are looking for and you'll have 90%+ of what a GT3 is with the tech that you are looking for. The worst thing you can do is pay an ADM for a GT3 then realize it's not for you and then end up selling it for loss as the ADM drops towards zero. Good luck on your search.

The problem isn't us as experienced drivers, it's some of the others on the road. Maybe it's not so bad where you are, but in the NY, NJ, CT area it can be a problem at times.

Three Wheelin'
If you are looking for things like the best NAV, blind spot detection, person detection I would generally say a 911 is not the right car. You can get an inexpensive Japanese car with a ton of good tech and a low price.

Porsche has some of the worst tech in the industry. Always has been, always will be. Maximum price, moderate frustration, minimal utility. Little about it is intuitive to use.
Maybe some exotics are worse. I always check all the performance options, minimum on the tech options. I'd rather get everything covered in leather than spend money on auto-drive and auto-park.
I have a stereo (Burmester is pretty good), google maps, a garage door opener that works on my car, and the basic camera. Iphone is plugged in directly for best sound. Plus SmartTop for windows and convertible control. That's all I need.
I will admit, the 18 way seats are perfect to me. They got that correct.

All of this sort of begs the question of what is the best high performance sports car with the best tech? Currently in production.

Keyless entry/start would be nice to have in GT cars, I'll admit that. I don't really want anything else other than the nannies on the track. haha

Wow...and I thought Corvette forum was bad. A new member asks a legit question and the majority of replies are: ‘A GT3 isn’t for you.’ Way to welcome someone who is trying to take the leap from Corvette to Porsche. LOL.
I own both...so I can say this with confidence. Just go buy a 2019 ZR1 and forget the GT3. No power at all below 5k rpm...and even above it...it’s lacking. They are noisy and ride rough on the road. The ZR1 has torque for days...more luggage space, cooled and heated seats...rides way better and is faster. It’ll also hold value well.
Sure...all the cultists will point to ring times...but if you truly want a better ALL AROUND car...get the ZR1. Trust me...when it’s well driven...no GT3 is getting away from you on track. Period. Flame all you want...but that’s truth right there. GT cars are one trick ponies...
For $275-$300k (assuming adm)...a GT3 is NOT worth it. Get a used 600LT, 720s, ZR1 etc...all better cars...Wrong site to say that on...but it’s just the truth. But At least the Porsche guys can cling to their ring times...which never hold up on local track days...Now here’s the funny part...I love Porsches...I genuinely do...But Porsche GT cars when combined with ADM’s are NOT worth it. At $160-$200k...it’s priced properly...but not at $300k. Forget about a 3RS at $400k-$450k...Laughable...you’re getting very close to 765LT territory (even with adm) which will bitch slap a 3RS and 2RS.
I know...wrong site...Kind of ironic...considering this is pretty much what everyone did to the OP....
