Default Must have options

Hey Everyone!
I have a 992 GT3 allocation and going through the specs. Just thought I’d ask the crowd here if there are any must have options based on your experience. Some of my specs are:
  • 18 ways (I’m 6’11 so buckets don’t work for me)
  • extended range
  • matrix headlights in black
  • FAL
  • manual
  • PCCBs
  • Carbon roof and mirror uppers

Let me know what y’all liked that you ordered!

Thanks,
Johann

When you say buckets won't work because of your height (presumably because of the upright position), have you actually tried the new ones? They drop significantly lower than LWBs in prior generations, literally down the floor.

My must haves in descending order were/are MT, LWBs, PCCBs, FAL, and bose (didn't get it in the 991.2 and regretted). Extended range is no-brainer but not a must have.

Dimming mirrors.

matrix are useless until there is an official approval on the build dates allowed. Not a software update I hear.

Don’t need FAL. It’s a must have like any other option, subjective and opinionated, but not a need or die.

Default Criteria is….

Let’s ask is it: form, function, future market value, track or trophy driver, personal expression or what is your goal? It’s darn personal and we have different objectives…….

Don't let anyone talk you out of FAL, its almost stupid to not order it for your use, you'll never feel the difference between having it or not dynamically and or for resale and it absolutely has a negative effect for this car. After that, mostly personal preference, but Id suggest doing the full leather interior instead of standard just because of the price point these are hitting, as well as the Bose sound system. PCCB's tend to bring the money back on the other side, numbers wise as well, but wouldn't be a requirement more as a strong preference for them vs without them by many. Enjoy the heck out of the car!

LOL, don’t let anyone talk you out of a manual and buckets. That’s ridiculous that everyone has been led to believe it’s a must have. Let’s talk about the negatives. The brake ducts are now attached to the control arms and 90% of the time the scraping were the ducts on the 997 and 991. The issue now is also the rear fins scrape when trying to enter anything remotely at an angle with FAL. It’s still junk and has a high failure rate, go ask the 992 board and I know of 3 992 GT3 which have already had needed replacement and the cars are less than a year old. The approach angle of the 992 is not as bad as the 991 and certainly not as bad as the 997. It’s not needed and people are sheep. If you find a car you like and it doesn’t have FAL buy it, if you are ordering a car new and don’t order FAL, don’t lose sleep. The only people who demand it are those who don’t own a 992 and their friends have all told them they need it, also their friends don’t own GT3/s.

I have most of the mentioned options on my Touring. Love the 18 ways, FAL, manual, extended range. I have steel and they seem fine. One little mentioned, low cost add on I use multiple times per ride is the reverse camera.

Thats great, to OP, for the 2xxx that FAL costs, just do it if you're speccing the car. Regardless of what some people say, it's important to 90 percent of people looking at a car with a low front lip that may not be hard core track guys. FWIW, this is now almost a resale issue for a Turbo S, even with a heap load of clearance as its pretty engrained in the general 200k plus sports car buying marketplace, merit or not. Meanwhile, I've had, and have a bunch of cars with FAL...none of mine have ever failed, and 2 of them have been on 992 platform cars, wouldn't worry about it! If you're buying second hand, that's a whole other set of decisions where not having FAL may not be why you don't buy it, just why the dealer bought the car for a little less from the previous owner than if it had it. I will NEVER order a street car without it.
