Daily driver is a loose definitiion.

Does that mean one only has one car and is required to drive the touring every day? I'd imagine (and correct me if I'm wrong) very few (if any) person with a touring does not have another car.

I like to think of a daily driver as being "a car I could happily drive every day if required". For me, I have a few cars, but only 3 that I consider "dailys". Each with a different purpose. Landcruiser for 100% practical 0% sporty. RS4 for 50/50. GT3T (yes with MT and buckets) 5% practical 95% sporty. It just comes down to what I'm doing for the day, potentially who also taking (eg kid duty and/or client) and also weather, if going to building sites, etc etc.

If I had to choose one of those as the sole daily, as much as I'd like to say I'd have the GT3T (but with sofas) it wouldn't suit the school run and so I'd probably have to choose the RS4.

That said, jealous of those that are able to truely daily a touring every day !

Drive mine pretty much as a daily when I’m in town. Grocery store, coffee runs, gym basically everywhere. Was hard to get over this idea of ruining the value of the car, but you only live once. Approaching 4k miles now in about 4 months of driving. Got buckets with a win. Onwards to 10k I guess. This thing is going to be worthless. 😂

I just got my first 911 a 992 gts, and I'm sort of in line to get a gt3. Our roads are absolutely crap here in Montreal. I went in the mountains the first weekend and the GTS handles the bumps well but still skips over the bad pavement. Made me rethink if getting a GT3 is a good idea. I will never track the car, most I would do is a lapping day. I do take the car to work a few days a week but mostly a weekend fun car. How would you describe the ride quality in your touring?

In my winged I find the ride quality perfectly acceptable, my long distance go-to car is an X5, but if it weren’t for piling up the miles I’d drive the gt3 all day everyday, just love it. On smooth tarmac there’s very little road noise, on rough aggregate there is appreciable tyre roar but I don’t find it objectionable. Ride quality is generally good but inadvertent running into a pothole does give a jolt. Track damper settings doesn’t seem to much affect quality of ride but does cut down on bounce when trying to get airborne. I wish I could drive the gt3 24/7 and would think the T only better.

Crazy 32k miles is considered a lot. These GT cars are really garage queens.

I have no issues with the ride quality. It's not a super comfortable car, but it isn't uncomfortable either. You definitely feel every crater in the road, but hey, it's a sports car that excites the senses. I have had other 911's and sure, they were more comfortable on bad roads, but really only marginally. I'll take the slight discomfort but the HUGE amount of visceral feeling from the NA engine and double wishbone all day long. I had a 991.2 Targa 4 GTS and can tell you there is no comparison. You would think the GT3 is like a GTS bigger brother, but I feel that the cars are night and day different. No comparison. The GT3 is a far superior driver. You should never "rethink the GT3 is a good idea". It will be the best idea you ever had concerning a car. I have had many, many cars and this is the first one I get really excited to go drive. I've turned down $100k over what I paid for it. Nope, not going to sell. Dead man's car. You'll love it.
Get the FAL and the comfy seats.

johnnylib68 thank you for that response. I've made an appointment Monday at dealer to discuss the potential of gt3 allocation.

Default GT3 daily

I am expecting my 992 GT3 in 3-4 months and i intend to use it daily as I do that same with my 992 carrera S. Been stiff its part of the experience of this car which you dont just seat inside but you become one. At the end if you want luxury and aero suspension etc buy Macan.

Great thing is that if you don't like it for a daily, you can sell for what you paid or make a profit, carry over the tax in same year in most places and buy a CPO or new Turbo S.....that can go anywhere)

My Touring with 18-way seats and Pirelli's is truly much more comfortable and "compliant" than my 981 GT4 with LWB's and Michelins.
I think a big difference can be seen right there.

My daily driver. I'm going to post my 1 year review soon but I'm at 19K miles on an 11 month old car (which just might be the most miles on any 992 GT3?). And that's with no commute 😀. Seen just about every kind of driving you can think of. Fast laps in advanced group at Laguna Seca/Thunderhill/Willow Springs, plenty of stop and go traffic on I-5 (no I'd rather be in something else for that, but it does fine), "spirited" driving up Palomar Mountain, fast cruising down the freeway in pouring rain, runs to gym/Costco/Beach/Home Depot, and just about any other kind of driving you can think of. So going fast and driver feel matter, but so do creature comforts, build quality, precision engineering, access to dealers/parts, and good but understated looks.

Ironically, the thing I was most worried about getting the car was the harshness of the ride. Naw. In fact in many ways I'd argue this car is a less harsh ride than my 991.1S. Which is shocking. The thing that does sometimes get a little annoying when not driving fast/hard, is the busyness of the steering which I assume is mostly due to the new front suspension. Of course that steering/turn in is magical on the track or when otherwise hauling around turns.

#1 for me is about how a car feels, and makes me feel, when I'm driving it. It has to make me feel good pushing it on a race track, cruising down the freeway or carving up the back canyon roads. Do I want to drive it even when I don't have anywhere I need to be? Fast is part of the equation, but fastest isn't necessary or even wanted. If this car had 460 HP I'm sure I'd be just as happy with it.

More to come soon, but the 992 GT3 Touring is the the best daily driver ever made. For me.

That has more to do with alignment (specifically front toe settings, which are adjustable) than the double wishbone suspension. In fact you should get less bump-steer on a double wishbone versus a McPherson strut, everything else being equal, because you have less toe change throughout the suspensions travel.

I agree, when I first got mine, I also felt the steering was just nervous.
I checked the toe front and rear.
The rear was.OK,080”toe in with 0 thrust angle.
The front was toed out .030” which really can cause a car to wonder.
OK on the track for sharp turn in but not so much for the road .
I changed it to..030 toe in and also went with full soft on the front bar.
Made a huge difference on the way the car tracks and turns .
it seems every car I’ve ever had. I always have to tweak the suspension settings.
I’m fortunate that I have the equipment to do it myself.
Never really found an alignment shop that would spend the time to really dial in settings.
Another thing is many times the equipment is out of calibration. Carl
