Apologies for the newb question, this is my first GT3. Build is locked, with a mid July production start, and an expected delivery date of late Aug. Is it customary for Porsche to adhere to this time table? or it just an estimation?

It's an estimate and often changes for many cars.

Also, be aware that the German factories will shut down for a couple/few weeks or so during the summer (happens every year, I think). That might affect the timing for those of us w/July and/or August production. My GT3's TYD (and internal dealer tracking) seem to reflect that delay. But for others, no delay is shown on TYD. I'm also waiting a Cayenne S and TYD has been all over the place w/date changes for what appears to be most people.

My conclusion is TYD is pretty unreliable.

I'm 99% sure they close down during the model year changeover for production, so you shouldn't be affected unless the build changes from MY23 to MY24.

And TYD used to be somewhat reliable, but since covid and the supply chain and labor issues of the last 4 years, it has become a mildly educated guess at best.

Yeah, all the chaos around the world is contributing factor for sure. I'm not upset about it - is what it is.

With respect to the changeover/summer-shutdown thing, all I know is my GT3 enters production on 7/17 and exits on 10/3 (not PTS, no unusual options). Dealer said maybe due to summer shutdown. But who knows.

About 4 years ago, when I ordered a 991.2 GTS, it inexplicably reached the freeze point and entered production nearly 2 months earlier than the dealer's internal tracking schedule showed initially. So maybe it's some kind of karmic law of conservation that, since the GTS showed up nearly 2 months early, I'm now delayed 2+ months for reasons nobody can explain.

Very odd, mine is 7/9 "manufacturing process starting soon" and 7/18 "Manufacturing process has started" with "Arriving German @ Port" on 8/3...

I hope yours gets updated for an earlier delivery.

Thanks. I hope so too. Something in my build must be in short supply, presumably some interior option.

Any special interior options added?

Well bad news. 3 week delay at US port. Well I was supposed to get the care 6/28 and today they bumped it to 7/21. It has been at port in the US for a short week.

Does TYD not disclose the ship you are on any more?

A few of the typical exclusive manufactur options, like extended race-tex, leather seat backs and similar. Nothing that’s not available in the configurator.
