Default LWB sub belt bar

Hi All

I’m going to install my GMG bar and 6 point harnesses tomorrow. I had the drivers seat cushion off and noticed a bar running across the belt opening. Is this a mount for the sub belt? I have the Cantrell sub mounts from my last car but these seat bases look different.

Has anyone put belts in yet?

Thanks

Jan

Hi Jan, would you mind posting some pics of what you see there? I’m curious if the Cantrell bar fits the 992 (or if it’s even needed based on what you’re mentioning).

I’ve been trying to find a local 992 GT3 owner that would let me test fit a Cantrell sub bar, but no luck yet.

This photo that trlin posted in another thread doesn't seem to show any bar near the center slot that I'd call a substrap mounting point:

Fantastic news! Is that your passenger seat on a US car (with the height switch on the right side of the seat)? Looks like the carbon seat base actually has the hole for the sub belt now if so?

Yes that’s the passenger seat. It’s has the hole ore cut in the carbon AND the seat cushion is precut as well!!
Total Bonus!!

Hi jmrdmd. Wanted to know if you installed bar and harnesses. If so how did it go.

UPDATE

I installed the GMG LMS bar, Cantrell sub bar and Schroth GT3 specific 6 point harnesses. Everything went well. The sub bar was exactly the same.
The GMG LMS bar mounted the same. There were two differences:
1. The G force sensor near the left rear shock tower required a slightly longer bolt to remount it as the bar flange interfered just a bit.
2. The lower carpet was different. It was much easier to cut as there wasn’t that hard plastic backing. I just installed it and folded up the sides near the bar and using a fresh razor carefully cut the carpet to fit around it.

The Schroth harnesses are of the highest quality as usual. There are some great YouTube videos showing the wrapping and securing techniques. The lap belts mount directly to the seat belt mounting points using the factory bolts.

I hope this helps.

Feel free to post or PM with any questions.

Best

Jan

Well done. How much space is there above the main hoop to the headliner? (Can you fit your fingers around the bar at the center with clearance to the headliner?) Curious how much the bar is in the rear view mirror.

Thanks!

There is enough room for your fingers. Really no issue with the rear view. The wing is much more obtrusive.

Best

Jan
