Later Allocations for GT3s
#16
Love this thread actually. Doesn't it all depend on where you are on the list, your past relationship with the dealer, how many cars you've bought/serviced there, etc. ?

However, my plan is to call my dealer at the beginning of 2022 and see where I am at on the list. Based on that information, I will either buy a 991.2 GT3T and trade it in when I get my 992 GT3T or stand by and wait for my allocation if my number appears to be coming up within a couple of months.
I doubt too many people on the list are not living their lives in the meantime. If someone is not buying what they want right now because they may be getting an allocation down the road, that would be very surprising. At least it would be to me as most GT car buyers have the means to buy what they want, when they want it.

The beta testers are always the ones willing to pay the highest ADMs and time goes on once those who are willing to pay a higher ADM get their cars the ADMs will have to come down because the demand won't be there. In 1-2 years the FED will stop with the helicopter money and will begin raising rates so that'll throw some cold water on things as well.

As production continues, chip shortages are taken care of, more likely to be able to get a car. No guarantee, but more likely.

'LOLOLOL' I also saw 991.2 GT3's going for 30k under with 5k miles 18 months after they first came out when I was offered one. Also have seen the 991.2 GT3s go from 15 for sale 2 months ago to 65 today. And 2 under 200k less than a month ago to 13 at last count. But I know first day macroeconomics, aka supply-and-demand is a hard concept to grasp. ''LOLOLOL'

If you look outside of the West Coast you can definitely find MSRP dealerships. Do you think anyone who gets on a list now outside of some market saturated with buyers like California is in jeopardy of not at the very least getting a 992.2 in a few years?

MSRP dealers (the very few) outside of california (such as Porsche Colorado Springs and others) want to sell locally to repeat buyers mainly for good reason. Good luck as a californian trying to get one - especially as a first time buyer.

Im sure they do prioritize their local buyers, but you don't think you wouldn't at the very least get one in 2023 or 2024 being on such a list as an out of towner? I know if you want a car sooner than later thats a pipe dream, but I think you'd be okay if youre willing to wait it out. Most people want sooner than later though.

Yes, I do because I went through it with the 991.2 GT3, literally contacting every Porsche dealer west of the Mississippi. Zilch. Nada. And it had nothing to do with not being local. They either had lists many multiples of their allocations or they wanted big ADMs. I got a late allocation by paying an ADM and then had to give it up due to a move. And I sold it for the same ADM. There were no .2 GT3s laying around unsold at the end of the run. Not sure why you expect there would be for the 992, when the market’s even tighter now.
