The consensus is the GT3/RS are great cars, no surprise there. The revelation is Lamborghini finally has a very good driver’s car in the EVO RWD. If you have owned the last few GT3/RS then the 992 is newer, but not substantially better than the previous model. Now, between the previous Huracan and the new EVO, I would say Lamborghini finally got it right.

The new 992 GT3 is significantly better, in all respects than the previous generation. New suspension, ITBs, recalibrated rear wheel steering, recalibrated PDK, revised and more direct steering, better brake application and modulation.... and these are just the obvious ones....there are more hidden changes, e.g. improved brake lines and center locking...... It is not quite up to the RS as an overall package but in many ways it supersedes it..e.g. suspension.

All the carping about the new car is based upon paper tiger statistics, and not from "real world" buyers and drivers. Because the new car is far better, it shouldn't introduce paranoia that suggests the old car is bad..or obsolete...far from it...... Mastering the driving of any Porsche GT car is a lifetime journey!

Watch this space as more cars get into more hands and more miles are accumulated!

Re the Evo, I have no opinion or knowledge.

"substantially" can be subjective given the opinion of a car, and what you said above seemed to have been the consensus that many assumed before actually driving the 992 GT3.

But go look at the reviews from those that have taken delivery of their 992s thus far, majority of which have multiple previous GT car experience as a basis for comparison, they don't agree with your assumption above

Substantially, is very subjective. Let me try to quantify the difference I perceived. I have owned the 991.1 GT3 and RS, 991.2 Touring. I recently drove the 992 GT3 at Thermal, a track I have experience with the previous variants of the GT3. The 992 was a little bit quicker around but not "substantially". The turn in with the new front suspension was better and more responsive, you can feel the load better in each front wheel. All other exterior and interior design changes I will leave alone, since this is even more subjective.

I drove the Huracan EVO RWD at Thermal, and I have to say this was a big improvement on the previous 580-2.

Now, I do have a 992 Touring on order, so I'm definitely not leaving the brand.

You're right! All the things I'm reading about how the 992 is better than the 991 make me cringe. I'm not surprised by it. Smoother ride, high stability, modern/roomier interior are all things that detract from the appeal of Porsche for many including myself. 991 was already a boring car on the road, short of driving like a total a$$hat. Now we have one that rivals a Cadillac and cannot be upset on even the worst roads. (Yawn)

Great cars on the track, but...... expensive to run and they getting too fast for most skillsets. Even though they are stable, there are limits and when folks overdrive the car they are now carrying a lot more speed than just a few years ago. I guess it's great if you're going for the DE Cup Championship.

So what is substantially better? It's all subjective. What turns one person on turns another off.

Default Trigger has been pulled. I’m off the “will I get an allocation and get *** teamed wit

Deposit down on a 2022 EVO spyder Rwd and order accepted.

had to do it. The uncertainty of obtaining a GT3 allocation was gnawing at my guts.

only a 6-7 month wait until delivery

congrats to all who were able to get a 992 GT3.
