I agree that a car focused on track days experience, should have the most performing gear to better serve its purpose.
But PORSCHE, please make the 50th anniversary Carrera RS trubute a manual!
The original RS was a homologation vehicle, and as such it was intented to be used mainly on the road.
We need the new homage to be a manual too please

I could see the interest in this for a few reasons. But a modern RS tribute would not equate to the experience of the old if provided by Porsche. After having purchased my first aircooled (88 930) a couple years ago, I totally get the appeal for the street and can imagine the Carrera RS. You can't compete today with the size, connection with the car and road, performance of the old. These modern cars are just not as thrilling to drive on regular streets at slightly above the speed limit. My opinion but I think there is some agreement on this. Granted I haven't driven the 911R and that is supposed to provide a more connected experience than a GT3 Touring.

I never even considered an RS because it didn't have a manual option. I'm not a race car driver trying to beat the next guy. I just drive for fun. This thread has me salivating now.

I'd get one.

Even if you were trying to beat the next guy, more fun trying in a Manual . Much smaller difference in laptime than most assume (and Porsche’s marketing would lead you to believe).

Exactly why it needs a manual.

Would tick the manual option on a 992 GT3RS in a heartbeat. I'm still getting a 992 GT3RS regardless of the transmission that's offered, but a manual would make it that much more sweeter to me.

I definitely don't think that's happening as Porsche has clearly found success in offering the manual as an option for the GT3 while keeping the RS strictly as a PDK for laptime reasons, but as someone that will drive his GT3RS on the streets primarily - a manual would be really nice to have.

Less so? How? They are both so ridiculously fast and capable that you aren't getting above 6/10ths on the street without driving like a total *****.

If offered I think I would opt for a manual in the 992 GT3RS as well.

Oh totally agree! I didn't fully write what I was thinking....I put less so because GT3 is available in manual for 991.2 generation. You will get more out of it on street in terms of enjoyment and thrill because of the manual. At least that is what I would think. I have a 991.2 GT3 PDK and don't have much fun on the street with it as compared to my other cars, it's a blast on track! The GT3 sits while I take other stuff for street drives.

This is why I am considering going GT3 Touring Manual to have more fun on the street and get something else for track, whether it's dedicated car or GT3RS or C8 Z06....dunno. But I haven't decided on the approach to take.

I'm comparing to air cooled and even 997, GT4/Spyder when I say GT3 not as thrilling.

But yeah I'd bet GT3 manual is more fun on street then 3RS.

great idea... i'd want one for sure and not surprised by the division of opinions here.

there's no doubt a 3RS is meant to be more track focused than the GT3, but it's still by and large a street car. a manual makes those days between track days more fun for a lot of folks. buying a street car assumes it will see some street time, so why not make that more fun? if it's truly a track-only car you're after, why not get a Cup car for the added theater, performance and safety?

The arguments never end. Some want a GT3 with buckets, wing, radio delete, PDK and lightweight glass.. others want a GT3 Touring, manual, a back seat with extra USB connections, acoustic glass and a Burmeister sound system. Of course there will be similar divide with the 3RS.

The spice of life....

Next what if... an RS... With a manual... without a wing AND a back seat option!

Best Regards,
Dave
