an auction is not retail: here is a good article describing the difference between wholesale, retail, and auction.
https://uspatterns.stores.yahoo.net/wholvsretvsa.html
edit: if the franchisee was doing nothing untoward, then pulling the auction an hour after my polite email to PCNA was just a 'coincidence'. coincidences do happen. sometimes.

I get it, you are from a generation that thinks there a special rules that should be in place to make everything seem fair. This is America. If they want to sell it to a buyer that’s willing to pay more than you, then they can.

This isn’t a private auction for dealers. This was on eBay. That’s a retail sale.

What are people adding to GT3 builds that options it into the 200s outside of PTS/CCBs? Do people really find that much extra value out of coating the fuse boxes and every other surface in every leather package out there and paying 6k on deviated stitching and such?

You can definitely spec a really nice car for under $200K, but it is easy to get sucked in and start checking off boxes that add up quickly.

Yes, the current market is most likely an outlier. But I keep telling myself that the more I "invest" now, the more the GT3 will be worth later. LOL. I am always a sucker for overpriced Porsche options, checking boxes for things I never even imagined until they get listed on the order guide. You can definitely build a nice car, especially a track-focused car, for the mid 180's. Dry humor rarely translates well in these forums.

Always love it when somebody calls someone out because they don't follow their lifestyle, do their spending habits, etc, etc, etc. I wouldn't call it being lucky in the genetic sperm lottery, buts its definitely approaching something close to it.
