IMHO Watches are for old people, these relics will be like grandpas pocket watch in time. You guys are just stroking each other. When was the last time you saw one on a millennial? Let’s get back to cars. Sorry but they are a artifact of a bygone era and are completely redundant with a phone in your pocket.
flame suit on please commence the flaming.

the issue here is comparing yourself to others, watches, cars, etc. it doesn’t matter, you do you and that’s what’s important

You could say the same about cars at some point... many younger people couldn't care less.

I think the issue here is internet strangers like to show off their wealth. Just like a majority of the people here buying the gt3 for C&C cred over driving it the way it is supposed to be driven. Same with the watch. It’s a status symbol to them. Not for functionality.

Nobody buys a perpetual calendar mechanical watch to tell the date and time. Nobody.

You could say the same about NA engines and manual transmissions. Those are at the risk of going away for good much sooner than mechanical watches, but doesn't mean people are ready to move on and ditch them. Those mechanical watches that you call relics will outlast you and your generations and will be worth tens of thousands of dollars more than their current value.

Not showing off, but in response to prior posts. It's a hobby and passion and I get satisfaction from a digital Casio or a Seiko SKX just as much. Watches, mechanical or not, are tools and are functional first and foremost. And it doesn't hurt that you can sell them decades later, if you need to, for a massive profit.

Dog photos, anyone?

Rebut a point with actual facts and all of a sudden you are an internet show off. Love the way that works.

Exactly. Can't reason with these kids these days. And I'm only a millenial + 5-10 years. LOL

The irony of coming on a GT3 forum and simultaneously disparaging watches for being inferior to a digital counterpart is staggering.

What Rennlist really needs is a dedicated Watch Forum.

I was one of the first people at my particular dealer to ask to be put on the list for the GT3. Because I've never purchased a car from them, just used them for service, they initially told me it would be $25k over MSRP, but I have a close friend who is a VIP at the dealer and after vouching for me being a local young professional who was looking to start a relationship with the dealer blah blah blah, eventually the dealer agreed to $15k over. I came by the dealer the next day with the check for the $15k as a deposit and signed the paperwork stating I'd get one for that price, but they didn't tell me when or where on the list I would be formally. However, the dealer verbally said they were going to give the first batch to the people that were paying a premium, and then they'd be giving the rest to the VIP's after that. The VIP's heard about this and threw a fit and the dealer swiftly reversed course. So as I've come to understand it per my conversation with the dealer this past week is:

- The very first allocations they get will be going to VIP's. They're supposed to be starting the builds in September and their cars will arrive a few months after.
- After they're done, they'll be giving them to the people who paid ADM, which at this time ranges from my $15k to $60k above MSRP.
- I got the impression that this is a fluid "list" as someone can skip the line if they pay enough, but the dealer would never admit such obviously. As of now I'm at the end of the first batch and was told I'd be building in December with delivery at the beginning of 2022. That would obviously change if I was bumped down the list.

Again, that's what I can tell you about ONE particular dealer that I've personally dealt with. But I'm sure every dealer is different and it's based on market demand, allocation, etc.

To my knowledge, it's damn near impossible, at least at this dealer, to get one for MSRP unless you have a STRONG buying history with the dealer (I was told having bought 5+ cars from them is a minimum). If someone calls the dealer right now, they're being told $75k ADM but I got the impression that it could be brought down to $50k with enough convincing.
$15,000 markup for a car... wow. Cost of 10 sets of tires, or two sets of magnesium wheels with tires, or 15 track days. All for a car that most of you guys wont even be able to come close to its limit or feel the difference vs a 991.2 or 991.1 most of the time (except visual differences). The $50,000 markup is utterly embarrassing. I wouldnt come to terms with $50,000 markup even if I had 8 figure annual income. Its legal extortion and people paying the markup are just as guilty as people charging it. The buyers enable sellers.

Then when Porsche charges $4,000 for a 2 year maintenance (materials cost $350-$400), they come here whining asking for help. What do you expect the dealerships? Turn free money away?

Let's see where he ADM goes when cap gain tax becomes 40%. That may be the ONLY positive thing to happen if ole Joe has his way.
