We have the same arguments over on Fchat in the 458/488/F8 section. As a drivers car, the 488 and F8 are so much more rewarding and satisfying than the 458. On a track, both will demolish the ageing 458. Throttle feels twitchy, the steering too light, and the brakes mediocre at best. Yet we have the 458 "cult" falling over themselves to make sure that everybody knows it is the best car ever made. Why? Because it has a Pinin badge on the side and is louder. More often than not, these self-proclaimed die-hard driving enthusiasts have less miles on their cars than most of us, they have never spent a day on a track, and overall seem satisfied revving the nuts off their decatted pride and joy on Rodeo Drive. I don't really know anyone who track and drive a lot that will nix one of these cars due to the GPF. I do however know quite a few of those loud and proud "enthusiasts" who will dismiss a car because ofca GPF. Would I prefer that my cars did not have them? Yeah, but how the car drives is ultimately what makes me choose a car. And what's the fhn in a car that will be blag flagged at the gates for noise when arriving at the track?

or having to lift/short shift as you pass the sound station to make it pass sound!

I haven't heard a GPF car sound like this yet. Performance is certainly improved over the 991, but I don't get paid for lap times.

It has nothing to do with lap times, but everything to do with how the car feels and performs. You don't need to get paid for lap times to be able to enjoy one car that is an overall better drivers car than the other. If sound and visceral driving is what you want, just skip the 911 completely and get a 360CS.

Ignoring one over the other goes both ways. What's important to you? Get the car that fits what you want.
