Why are dealers hesitant to do European Delivery?

I love when our clients do ED.
Big issue now is transportation to and from (for you, the client) as the Covid thing evolves...we do not know what the next phase will bring. I think we do about 3-4 ED clients picking up cars per year...panamera, 911 GTS, GT3, sure- if you're a qualified client (Porsche Financial does the lending FYI) then there is no downside (other than not getting a clear film install). Right now, you have time to get the relationship going since it will likely be 12 months from today before you'd actually be picking the car up. Not sure you'd be getting the first car from anyone without buying history.
In the past, there have been issues getting SPECIFIC DATES because of factory hours, travel routes, etc. so the best way to do it (I've personally done euro delivery 2 times) is to plan on being there 4-5 days early and having a changeable ticket back. I actually left the last car there for a few weeks in storage, went back to California, flew back again, then dropped it at one of the designated drop spots.
*recommended routes vary by season*

I think with 992, they are actually offering PPF as factory installed option, no?

Tracwrap FTW! That’s the best solution for ED.

I have emailed several dealers. We shall see.....I need an allocation and fingers crossed the backseat rumors are true.
FWIW - My soon to be 11-year old has been asking me to take her on a Euro Delivery trip for several years. The plan was to buy an M3 and do it that way, but Porsche is the last manufacturer that even offers Euro Delivery. BMW has cancelled the program. Porsche or bust!

If one must have a Manual gearbox, I think Porsche may be the last man standing...

All of them will. What's the difference with a GT car? They still get another allocation as compensation (although not necessarily a GT car). However, my dealer flat out told me that I would have to pay the $3k ED fee though on a GT car but I wold get it for MSRP too. They paid for that fee for my first two EDs.

I had the front end of my T PPF'd by a shop called Schwaben-Folio just south of Stuttgart the day I took delivery at the factory.

I took delivery first, then took it down to them and rode the train back to Stuttgart for the night. Picked it up the next day. They did a decent job. Glad I had it done but could have had a better job done back in my home town.

I think maybe some of the dealers are lazy, and don't want to go through the trouble. My dealer charges their customers the $3K price. They are upfront with the charge so no surprises -- take it or leave it. I signed up for ED, but ended up cancelling it because the car was not going to be ready in time during my scheduled trip to Europe. Of course, the dealer did not charge me for the ED option.
