In general. What's the minimum ceiling height you need to have to make a lift work in general?

In general, 10 feet to be safe. Could do less depending on car and lift.

Agreed 10ft to be safe. But it also depends on the lift and lock points on it.

Lifts with lock points closer in space will allow you more flexibility when you have a low ceiling and are trying to maximize every inch.

Is there an issue with tires rubbing the outside of the track if we go with the narrower width lifts?

I like up up and out of the way. I have two teens and they have friends over a lot. This is a pool house. It isn't my main garage.

Thanks guys.
I'm only interested in a 4-post since this will be in my main house garage, not pool house

Adding a pic of my soon to be new garage.....
No, it's not a pool house, but it is an 'Island' home, built in a city called Grosse Ile.
While doing the home inspection the other day, i took a few pics.
The garage is finished and has nice Pella windows, to allow natural light, but needs a refresh/paint and better lighting.

Seller is not yet moved out.....this is not my mess!
Again, it's 24' deep x 36' long and has a raised cement edge around.
Ceilings are close to 12' tall.
Single stall is where i will add the lift, seen in the below pic.

As a plus, the owner who built originally, had hot and cold water piped into garage.
I'll get a mixer and hook up a deionizer and will be set for washing/detailing!

i have a Bendpak single post very similar to the Gemini shown above. While I love it be aware that a drive on- drive off lift does not allow you to pull off wheels to do brake work etc. I still do that the old fashioned way.
