Default Winter setup for 991.2 C4 GTS

Hi all - some help needed

Any thoughts / recommendations for doing wheels and tires v tires only. I have CL's and the rear tires are 305. Seems the only winter tires avail are 295. Rear wheels are 12in wide and the 295's are typically mounted on 11in (that's the width of the Porsche CL w/ winter tires). I guess the question is "anyone mounted the 295 on 12 inch wide wheels". Are the tires too narrow. I had an issue once where the lip got chewed up when the tire was 10mm narrower on a Mercedes.

In the same boat. Waiting for recommendations. New set of wheels might get expensive. Lol

Same here. Configurator (for c4 GTS) changed for MY 2018 to show CL turbo S wheels as $7710 option. I guess that's an option? I emailed my SA and haven't heard back.

Yes. You can get the Turbo CL wheels and tires at the dealer or Suncoast for around $7400. They come w/ 295's and the rear wheels are 11" v 12". Looking at the 12" on the car - I have concerns the narrower tire will expose too much log the lip in the wheel. When I picked up the car my intentions where to just have the tires swapped in the winter (had that discipline with dealer). Now I am not so sure I want to do that. You can get a set of OZ CL wheels and tires for about 5k at the tire rack. Still more $$ than the $1700 for just tires.

I put a 19" Porsche wheel/ tire set on my 991.2 C4S.
About $4500 cash. Dealer will store free for first year.
Came with ContiWinterContact.
Ran all last winter and in 4" new snow, tested in large University parking lots before the crews cleared the lots. Ran two Snow AX at Road America.
Car needs a 'Snow Mode' with the PDK. Slow deliberate starts are fine but trying to get mac traction on icy starting boxs, just results in spinning wheels.
Have to shift up with paddles as soon as possible.
Somehow I feel more comfortable in our XC70's!-Richard

you missed the part where we said we have centerlock wheels. The porsche winter 19s are 5 lug.

Unlikely, but I would keep on eye on eBay or other markets for used CL wheels. For my 991.2 C4S I found a one year old set of Carrera wheels that were perfect. Added a set of Sottozeros and good to go. You might find a set from 991.1 that should work as well and they are wheels for the winter......

I will check it out. The CLs I have seen (even used have been $$). The best deal I have seen (if I need to buy a full set v just tires) I think at the OZ CLs on tire rack. They run around $730 -$750 ea.

Scotozero 3 are available in 305 rear. Tirerack does not show the matching fronts, only scotozero 2, but they do show the rears. You could either do the front in 2 and 3 in rear or wait for the 3 to come back in stock in front size.

Thanks. I had gone to the pirelli site in hopes of finding a front in the 3's and or a rear in he 2's but no joy. I have an email in to tire rack asking for a recommendation but no response yet.

Michelin shows a 315/35/20 in N0 for alpine 4 wonder if that fits. It's a bit higher overall diameter but I don't know if it's within range.
