Default Porsche 991.2 Carrera (without PSE) Performance Exhaust Systems

Our Performance Rear Exhaust for non-PSE models is NOW AVAILABLE!

We set out to craft a rear exhaust that was simple, light, and as aggressive as possible while retaining drivability. We’ve been collecting feedback for a while and the consensus is that the 991.2 non-PSE equipped cars are prone to droning in the 1,800-2,200 RPM range with aftermarket rear exhausts – the primary factor that we based our system around. We tested numerous variants incorporating resonators, helmholtz resonators / anti-drone tubes, straight pipes, and a basic x-pipe to hone in on the best possible solution. Testing was done with and without our Sport Catalytic Converters as they are a very common modification. Resonators reduced the overall engine tone and volume and did not have enough of an impact on the drone. Helmholtz resonators (also known as anti-drone tubes) are an effective way to reduce undesirable frequencies when engineered and utilized correctly. We’ve had great success incorporating them into our recent 991.1 Carrera Performance Exhaust System as well - you can read about the development process for that in our blog post here.

Our final design has proven to offer the very best results on this application and achieved our high standards for sound quality and drivability. The drone is not gone completely on vehicles with Sport Catalytic Converters, but it is minimized to a great extend given it is an aggressive, non-valved rear system.

Looking for the most aggressive sound and lightest weight? We also offer the system without anti-drone tubes for a lighter, more cost effective solution – the exterior volume and tone is the same minus the reduction in drone.

How does it sound with our Sport Catalytic Converters? Amazing!

We build each system by hand out of mandrel bent, thick wall .065″ T304L stainless steel. All welds are back purged to ensure proper weld penetration and longevity. We text each exhaust in a fixture before foam packing it up for you. Of course it is covered by our Lifetime Warranty which even covers track use.

Looks good, nice work! I'm no fan of the X-crossover so common on 911s. So happy to see it not used here. Any dynos?

What is the downside to the 200 cell sports cats? Do they fail inspections? Do dealers consider it damaging? Do they pollute? Is it easy to go back to stock?

I am just curious, because it seems like the perfect mod, but I must be missing something?

Thanks!

Technically, they are not legal for on-highway use. But then again, hardly anything is unless it's CARB certified. They do not reduce emissions as well as the stock cats which are ~600cell count. But that's the trade-off for power. It's easy to swap back to stock.

Has anyone gone with the stock cats on a non-PSE .2 yet? I need to keep it strictly legal for the time being but am worried about any differences in sound. Not in it for the power, so if that’s the primary consideration, no worries! Any thoughts?

Trying to get some clarification - do you mean aftermarket cats?

Not sure what you are referring to but I have the stock cats off my 991.2 Targa GTS if you need them, which came off when I had the Soul high-flow cats installed.

We did not dyno it as the rear exhaust is primarily for sound and we do have dyno charts from the PSE cats / cat bypass pipes and they'll perform similarly.

They are not CARB certified and could fail a visual inspection. We have select Porsche dealers that have installed these very pipes - but every dealer is different - we always recommend getting clarification from your dealer. They have a high amount of precious metals to achieve effective catalyzation without throwing a CEL but they are not as thorough as factory catalytic converters. Install time is around 1-3 hours depending on your experience and the amount of hands available to help!

Apologies, my post was written fairly quickly. I’m looking at just the exhaust only and not the street package with the sport cats. I’m not necessarily interested in performance gains, I just want a more robust sound. Just wanting to see if anyone has done this, as you mention that most customers go for the full street package.

Does that make sense? Maybe I’m just crazy.

It is not crystal clear but if I can take a guess, it sounds like you want high-flow cats, which allows you to retain everything but the cats.
