Gentlemen,

There was great info shared on the PDCC thread. So how about PSP? Does it help, hurt, or have no effect on steering feel for a RWD 991.2 GTS?

Assume SPASM. Curious to hear actual driver's experiences.

Definitely have it. There are lots of messages in the HFS thread that it increases resale value a lot


.... sarcasm over. I did not really feel a difference at parking speeds between my former 987 and the current 991. Extra $ for Porsche for some software tinkering

It's nice for low speeds in parking lots. Make autocross possible with only my pinkie finger.

Okay that last part was a joke. I have it and I like it. If ordering a new car, I would probably get it. If getting a used one I wouldn't care if it was equipped with PSP or not - not a deal breaker.

I'd go without it in a c2 used for more sporty purposes, I'd probably go with it in a 4wd platform used for simple daily driver duty. I generally prefer without though, and my current 4gts doesn't have it.

Funny . This car is going to be a DD for years so it won't make it to HFS.

it sounds like there are fewer strong opinions on PSP?

Normally not one with huge "OMG YES or OMG NO" response rate. Which is funny because it does really come into play EVERY time you drive the car.

To me, i added it because of salesman recommendation and price.
I didn't get a chance to compare. There is supposed to be benefits/differences at both low and high speed.

But...you can always get it afterward since its software/programming.

Thabks to all. Since it's a software/programming trick, Ill leave it off the build and consider a later plug-in as needed.

I paid to have my M3 go in the opposite direction and I LOVE it- best mod ever. Steering was factory set to firm up at ~29 MPH and now this happens at ~11 MPH. Because the steering boost is steady above 11mph the fall off in resistance when turning the wheel goes down proportionality and linearly as the speed rises- kind of like the an engine within a single gear. Much more fun. Your EFFORT (YOGA) drives the car.

Bought it on a 2015 GTS. Really disliked it enough and became one of the first to have it deprogrammed. Cost was 1 hour labor to yank it off and replace with standard steering.

As for why, see above post about Lexus/Cadillac.

PLEASE NOTE: I am only referring to how the PSP felt to ME on my GTS. I know there are many people to whom PSP does not feel like a Lexus on their 911, or who like the feel of a Lexus steering system.

It came with my base model 911, I think it's great. Now my Cayenne feels cumbersome to drive.

Never driven it on a .2. But drove it back to back on .1's and did not like it. Too overboosted feeling. Have it on my Cayenne and every time I get in I want to bring it to the dealer and code it out. But that's my wife's car and she WOULD notice so I suffer.

I'll also preemptively add a caveat that people often chime in and remind us of: Yes, I know it has no effect above XX mph (there are many different claims of when it stops impacting steering feel.) I'm not talking about actually negatively impacting steering in any way. It is not a "performance enhancing" or "performance diminishing" feature in any way. It simply changes how the car feels at parking lot speeds. I like a heavy tug from the wheel, the feeling (in miniature) that a racecar gives you in the paddock or on pit lane when you're going slow. I like for my Porsches to remind me that they're deadly serious sportscars and that they're going to demand something out of ME, by gawd, if I'm going to be afforded the privilege of driving them. I get a little closer to that feel by keeping PSP off of them.

Many (quite reasonably) don't seek this extra or heightened feel at parking lot speeds; nothing wrong with that. The world needs "those type" people also.
