Default losing center cap

Hello everyone,

I have lost 3 center caps in the past 4 months on my 991s. I am sure they were not stolen. anyone has ideas how to keep them secure in place? I suspect they might have fallen off when I drove over bumps on the road .

I appreciate any suggestions . Thanks.

I have never had one come off and I swap out wheels every winter/spring with center caps on both sets (Carrera Classics and Carrera S wheels - previously Sport Design wheels on my last 991S and never a problem with those center caps, either). Make sure you push them in all the way - they snap in pretty tight and I cannot imagine that they would just pop out from driving.

There must be a problem with them they should not pop out from bumps in road. Are they original to the car and to the rims?

Never had mine pop out but I do like to keep them pointing at the valve stem. I think this might help and it's relatively harmless (just sticky):

Thanks for your responses (one made me laugh) . I have the carrera classic rims. The center caps are original and I purchased the last 2 from the dealer. The funny thing is that they fell off the rear 2 rims. I put on the first one myself and the second time I had the dealer install it ( push it in ) and I still lost it......

I am thinking of applying a little dab of glue on the edge of the cap when I put the 3rd one in...????? ANY comments . what do you guys and gals think? what would you do?

I adhere then with a few dabs of right stuff -- an adhesive silicone. Weather strip adhesive also works but may eat the paint. I don't have my 991 but I have done this on rover, lotus and my 993. Works great.

I know - I had to buy separate caps when I bought winter tires - they were indeed hard to install!

And then when I learned that they should point towards the valve stems, I had to fix them on both tire sets LOL!

Me, too--never had one pop out, even after I broke one retaining tab years ago.

Do you park where center cap collectors can forage on your car?

Do you track your car?

I always take off my center caps when at the track.

For daily use, it's nearly impossible for me to fathom that they would be shaken loose because of bumps in the road.

Are there various different sizes for these? I've bought them twice before from Suncoast and had to specify my wheels pretty carefully - I got a different SKU each time. Perhaps the ones you have are slightly too small. No idea if that's the case, but mine are popped in there pretty good and if I hit a bump hard enough to knock them out I bet I'd have damaged the wheel.
