I guess nobody's too hung up over the paragraph in the owner's manual that states that no oil additives are to be used...

I've said this in other post about maintenance. Please be educated before heading in for service. There's a published list that has been posted before that goes by miles and age so stick to it. Get to know your service adviser and your service techs. The 1st time when I walked in and met a new service adviser with his little i-pad saying here's the recommended services I chuckled and said I'm here for warranty work only..... I've done the rest. BTW I never have seen that little i-pad since.

Try another dealer, or tell them how it is.

I'll put up with the dealer because they take care of me with loaner cars and my SA will go to bat for me when needed. I had an issue where the dealer I bought my car from damaged some parts when they took the engine out for a major service, I found out when I got an error code about the rear brake lights after I'd had it a few months. The SA said it wouldn't be covered by CPO, but he figured out a way to get it covered. I would have had to go after the selling dealer, glad I didn't have to hassle at all. We also get invited to all of the nice release parties.

To me, paying $350 for an oil change is right on the border of that. I mean, I can buy the necessary oil and filter, retail, for about $80. That's not a bulk discount or wholesale pricing. So they probably have about $40 in parts and about 30 minutes of labor in the deal. Really, if you have a lift, and a giant drain catch that you don't have to worry about emptying, it should take no longer than that. But I'll pay that much to build the goodwill.
But when they start to add on extra, unneeded services or baloney products like oil treatments...no. F that. That's just trying to pad their bill even further. No thanks. Or when the 20k mile service is exactly the same as the 40k mile service...and they try to charge you more. That just doesn't fly with me.

Bring the oil and OEM filter with crush washer and oil filter housing o-ring and let them charge you the 1hr labor rate of $175. You'll get a computer reset included in the price.
