This makes me so angry, other people deciding what is best for me. I saw the Porsche "Build Your Car" lose the beige option a month or two ago and saw the legal disclaimer pop up. Then I get the settlement notice yesterday. I love my beige interior and I don't need a lawyer to buy polarized sunglasses.
My company does paint protection and we see a lot more used low mileage ones with the tan dashboard. Most of them don't have sport exhaust either so we figure it was a first time Porsche owner doing the purchase... realize its hard to see out of and doesn't sound as good as their friends, then trade it for one with a darker dash and PSE. My 997 cab had tan interior but the top of the dash and windows was black.
I like the two-tone a lot, but calling all beige "hard to see out of" is rediculous. There's a slight reflection at high sun angles that you can see if you look for it.
I received 3 different forms today for the settlement. We have had a Cayenne with saddle interior, a Panamera with beige interior and I am guessing one of my earlier TT's may have had light interior also. These forms list dates of ownership back to 2001.
All of those are gone both my wife's Macan and my 4S are black interior. Guess I can't get free Raybans.
I was posting 20 yrs ago on early Porsche interweb boards about the glare from their beige dashes after they went " grandpa's Oldsmobile " with monotone interiors with their light leather colors where prev 911s always had sportier two-tone with dark str wheel / dash top
. Beige not a prob w the std two-tone on my 964 but was an annoyance on my monotone 996 , not to mention the eventual stained grip areas of the beige steering wheel .
Yes , I could reduce the reflections with polarized sunglasses which I always wear anyway , but -esp with beige - the view forward on high sun days was still always " jaundiced " ..not unlike those popular in the 1980s " blue blocker " sunglasses that turned the world yellow amber when worn .
( A reflected lighter grey dash is better in this regard )
