my biggest fear in taking my 991 out on trips is storms that may bring hail overnight while it's parked at a hotel. Anyone have a good solution for this? Have a great hailproof cover or tent thing that fits in the fronk and can be used if it storms?
Plenty of quality car covers are available to minimize such damage. Most fold up compactly to reduce storage space required and dry quickly after rain.

You already have one in your glove box: Your Insurance card.
There is no such animal if the hail stones are large enough. If you drive it enough and are in the right part of the country its a risk we take.
I got caught in a very bad hail storm last spring in my prior car, a 997.2. Extremely disconcerting to say the least, but fortunately my detailer does paintless dent repair. All of the dings were able to be repaired in a single day and you couldn't tell anything had even happened afterwards. Many cars in our area were totalled, however. My detailer brought in extra help from around the country and even with that he was doing hail repair work for over a year.
I make a point to check the weather along my route and deviate accordingly.
I picked up this habit while driving home from Parade 2014 and getting caught in a hail storm. The hail hammered my car for miles with no shelter until I found this old gas station.
Miraculously, the car did not get any hail dents. It did bottom out in that ditch though, which was flooded with water and hidden when I pulled in.
Yeah, always check the weather along your route. It can change rapidly.
