Just one letter and everyone gets it.

No more alphabet soup nonsense, GT3 RS WXYZ 5.0 liter, Targa 8S Wagon Turbo 6 liter...

991.2 GT3 is better... not worth as much but a better car.

I had a 2015 Turbo S. Really fast. Kinda luxurious. Worst sounding car I ever owned from Porsche. Even a Sharkwerks exhaust didn't make it more fun. I bought it because I wanted Porsches flagship car - their best. In the end, it's one of the most boring Porsches you can buy. It's also way over priced. The turbo is also Porsches fastest depreciating car (if you care - I didn't).

The GTS is a much better buy in my opinion. If you want a DE/track car, get a GT3 or RS. The turbo is so soft on the track. Pay for track coaching. You will be faster in a GTS than the average Turbo S driver.

Keep your car and buy a boat or a plane. Thank me later.

What kind of idiot would give up that wonderful 458 motor for a soulless 3.0L fake-turbo 911? If your goal is to trade down as far as possible, have you considered a Chrysler Pt Cruiser?

^^ LOL, that's sort of the path I'm going, only staying in the Porsche fold. Went from 997TT 6M to 991 GTS PDK to 981 GT4. Losing significant HP and Torque with every move.

Thinking of dropping to a base Macan next year.

Hah! Incidentally I'm considering giving up the 991S for something slower as well.

Yes, all 991 Targas are AWD. They also have a much more compliant suspension setup.

Great daily driver, not so much track orientated.....

Ferrari was 4 years old and just out of warranty, and I got a great price for it. Best car I ever owned but I didn't get to drive it much, and it was a bit fragile. I actually bought the Porsche Targa as a daily driver a year prior to considering selling the Ferrari. One thing about Porsche is you can drive it all year long, even in our bad Canadian winters. Using the funds from selling the Ferrari to put in a new back yard with pool, bar area, full basketball court for my kids. As a friend of mine once told me, you date an Italian, but you marry a German.

This is an excellent strategy to save Tax.

If you lived in a warmer place like CA or something would your choice have been different? How bad was it fragility wise? Would it have been driveable every day as long as you have a backup car for when it spends a week or two in the shop waiting for parts do you think?

I had a 458 coupe and a 458 spider. Doesn't matter what climate you live in...you can't really DD a Ferrari. I guess you could, esp 458, but it is too attention grabbing, not practical space wise, and putting on the miles affects resale and being out of warranty is expensive (common transmission failures). Overall, the 458 is one of the most reliable ferraris but you just can't abuse it and use it like a Porsche.

I want something significantly louder than the 3.8 though, without aftermarket mods, and has to be manual. So if I'm unable to get a .3GT3 allocation, I don't see a lot of other options besides like a 360/430 from the era when they made cars with a men's transmission or possibly a gen 1 R8.

If you love the Turbo S, then get it. You must make sure that you are choosing the right decision because you know at the end you might regret it.

just had the 30k mile on my 2016 turbo done, 30K vs 40K for standard, full service $1600. did not think that was too bad.
